id guess at 4.2-4.5ghz those intel coolers are pretty poor

Taken mine to 4.3 in the software but never in BIOS. going to try it tonight / tomorrow :-S hopefully i can follow online guides and not break it.... if i hit 4.7 i will be stoked. would love to get to 5 just once though!

I have mine running on a h81m hds which i got super cheap, think its around 4.5ghz at the moment

So after my first attempt i managed to hit 4.6ghz before the system refused to boot. Is there anything i can do to get higher?

what voltage are you at? have you tried to oc your ram to 1600mhz or the uncore/cache at all?

I think the voltage is at 1.3. I ran IBT for 10 passes and used it normally for about an hour and all seems good. There was another multiplier I changed to 45 but I can't remember what us was called

Hmm... just had to dial it back to 4.5 as lightroom made it crash :-/
Why is this chip so cheap? How does it differ from say a 4770k / 4790k that are almost 6x the cost?

yeah........its about 3 times slower than the i7 and half the speed of the i5.

That would totaly depend on the chip, do you mean something like the 3258K or the i5 or i7?

erm.... low haha! I can't comment as i have 5 HDDs and 2 graphics cards attatched. but i would hazard a guess and say a 250w psu would be more than enough so low.

I am trying to compare between an am1 setup and the pentium. Am1 is great but i just fancied some extra grunt from the cpu but then you got 4 cores am1 versus 2 cores of the pentium k and 38watts my system uses now compared with what the pentium might use doing the same jobs
