I'm pretty sure the only true way to tell if people eat butter is to place a Buttercup under their chin and if it reflects yellow on the skin, you like butter.

This thread reminds me of Rahul Mandal, who won The Great British Bake Off in 2020 and returned for the festive special last year. During the festive special, he said that if he could choose between butter or chocolate, he'd take butter any day. He then proceeded to slice off a chunk of butter from a block and eat it on camera on its own. Matt Lucas was suitably disturbed and disgusted by the idea.
