Pep Guardiola?

Yep, I get the impression that JM is just killing time until SAF retires, then he'll be in for the job.

I expect that money will be made available for JM should he join. At the moment, it's hard to tell if there is money available as SAF is too stubborn to use it even if it was. JM wouldn't be - he'd have the dead wood cut away within days of moving in.

Mourinho would ditch RM in an instant the second the United job comes available. He'd have done the same at Chelsea too if United wanted him back then.

Are they both better? I'd say the top four in the EPL are pretty evenly matched, just that the United defence is going through it's usual leaky spell.

I'd give you Barca > Man U though. ;)

anyone but a fool can see he's been crying out for a move to united for ages now. He's constantly sucking up in the press.

I can see how you'd struggle.

First thing pep did when he took over was to sort out the disruptive changing room.

Ronaldinho argubley the best best player in the world a few seasons before had to go. Reports of him missing training and partying were rife/

Second to go was deco who again just wanted to party.

Pep also wanted shot of Eto'o ASAP but Eto'o tried to fight for his place. In the end Pepe got what he wanted.

These were 3 big names and it takes some mighty balls to sort that mess out

Meh, Barca failed to win anything in the last season(before Pep), but it was fluke the football was fantastic. I think Barca have been going backwards for two years while Messi has gone forwards, Pique is horrifically bad, every game I see him in now he's a joke and is frequently responsible for goals going in.

They've turned into a bunch of cheats, great first year, improved squad and Messi really coming into crazy high scoring form will do that, it would have happened under Rijkaard aswell, it was his team much like Liverpool was still fundamentally Houliers team when they won the Champs league.

Last year they were noticeably worse, just with a very very new Real team taking shape, a team that new with Kaka and benzema completely and utterly crap, with that defence, Barca should have finished a LONG way clear of them, this year they haven't been close to their best, infact they aren't the second best team in the league, nor the champs league this year.

Considering Barca seem to be getting worse, at a quickening pace I wouldn't go throwing too many plaudits at Pep yet.

This is before you mention the single worst ever deal in football, ever, without question that utterly failed.

You're talking about a guy that bought in a player for almost 60mil euro's, threw in a player he could easily have sold for 30mil euros, maybe 40, and then got rid of him the next season. In a season Barca are 150mil in debt, 100mil of that is Ibra's deal.

He could be a great manager in the future, who knows, but the team most certainly isn't going forwards and the biggest change in the winning year, was simply messi becoming a 40 goal monster, like a certain 42 goal Ronaldo put a very different spin on that year for Utd.

Mourinho won't go to a club in massive debt, that also won't spend, he's also never really built a team. Chelsea the spine was there, the obvious buys that everyone wanted, Drogba, Essien, and everyone else who ended up kicked out the door. Inter, inherited a side that was completely and utterly dominant, for me I really actually do want to see Mourinho take on a non basically already champions side and see a massive improvement in the team, and seeing if with only 30mil he can buy 2-3 good players, rather than spend 300mil and get 2-3 good ones amongst a couple dozen buys. I'm not sure he's got it in him.

but why come out and recomend pep when he isnt that great a manager (imo) and is a direct rival of Mourinho who i rate much higher as a manager and who has stated some interest in potentially being our manager.

I would be very very suprised to see pep leave never mind go utd.
Mourinho i dont see doing well as he likes to come and spend money which he 'wont' have at utd.

"I know that sooner or later I will cease to be coach of Barca and I have to enjoy the time I’m here to the maximum. A coach of Barca can’t be here for life. I think that you have to sign for short periods in which the coach has to earn things, with the players, with the fans"

I think I also read an article last year where he said his stay will be short as the stress is too high

He's the equal or second most current successful club manager, utterly blessed with a lot of players that came through the ranks and he still can't live with the stress. Makes you wonder what it's like lower down. A lot is to be said about diminished player responsibilities.

I read about AW a few months back and photos of him between 1997 and 2010 were more than 13 years. He's a haggered old bugger now..

Who knows where he'll go, he's been at just the one club so far.

There's a lot more pressure on Barcelona to win things though than nearly any other club in the world, if you don't do as expected, and do it in a beautiful fashion, you're gone.

The reasons why i think Jose will go to United is by the time Fergie retires Jose will (should) have titles from the 'big' leagues. Only think left for him will be to enjoy football and if it's true that he loves EPL than what better place to do it then United.
United will give him money to spend, not as much as city or chelsea might, and time to build his team.

more expectation that real?

I'd say it's very even.

Depending on money (a massive factor for Mourinho who is effectively becoming a cheque book manager, everywhere he goes he leaves a trail of horrendous debt), City? Chelsea?

I obviously have no idea how the man thinks, but I'm going to guess if he thought even for a second he would crash and burn at United through not being given enough financial leeway to create and manage 'his' team, he wouldn't bother. I think he quite likes being known as 'The Special One' (still makes me shudder). Likewise by the time he's done with Real Chelsea aren't going to spending as huge as they have done, and City will be on the downward slope to sustainability too. Maybe the time of chequebook managers is running out?
