Pep Guardiola?

I can't see how Mourinho to Utd makes any sort of sense to any party involved.

Why would Utd want to go from somebody like Taggart who's built a legacy to Mourinho that's not stayed at any club for more than 3 seasons?

Every job Mourinho's taken since Porto, he's wanted and got big money to spend. He left Chelsea once RA cut back his spending and his exit for Inter coincides with Inter's money drying up too. Would he really join Utd when money is as limited as it is?

And finally, would the Glazer's really want a manager as outspoken as him? Mourinho had no issue speaking out against RA when he felt he wasn't given the money to spend in his final 2 seasons. No matter how unbelievalbe it sounds, Taggart's toed the party line regarding money/transfers, I can't see Mourinho doing the same.

Mancini :p

Baz makes good points, I have to say I'm surprised about the Utd fans being so adament Mourinho is going there, but then again I haven't seen any of these interviews where he's claimed that he wants the job. It doesn't make that much sense unless Man Utd get new owners. Mourinho has become the biggest spending manager by miles and goes to clubs who are happy to sell their financial soul for a trophy. Would Glazer be happy to plunge himself/the club into massive debt to afford him for a few seasons? I'm far from convinced.

A football manager is first and foremost a football coach, and this means that different managers can and do get completely different results with the same players.

Mourinho is an amazing motivator and organiser. He is not on the other hand a master tactician or strategist, but he knows psychology inside out and it shows.

Lots of managers and coaches have been given chances at big clubs in the past and given a fair amount of money to spend - but very few have been successful. Sure, wherever Mourinho has gone he's spent money - but the money he's spent has been commensurate with the success he's achieved in the timeframe that he's done it.

I think he has said basically any manager when fergie leaves would be stupid to not take the job which + sun reporters =Mourinho is going to utd.

Guardiola isn't adverse to spending a bit of cash either, mourinho's gone in and will in my opinion take the Spanish title in his first year. The man's a winner and it denigrates him to term him a cheque book manager. He won while at Porto as well without oodles of cash. Most importantly perhaps he's a real personality.

the fact that guardiola spent what he did on ibrahimovic, and traded in etoo at the same time, shows he is a poor manager. what on earth was he smoking? and why did the chairman/president let him do it?

the only man for the man united job is martin oneil or an ex player. jose mourihno is a sellout.

Correct me if i am wrong, but i would imagine that following the continental style of management he wouldn't have done that deal. His job would be to simply recommend players to the board and he can't be held accountable for the whims of a chairman/president. I might be wrong though.

Any manager would be stupid to take the job when Fergie leaves, if he wins then the credit still goes to Fergie, if they don't then he's rubbish. No decent manager will touch the united job for a couple of seasons after he's left. The best they can hope for is a ex united player who gets lucky.

Rubbish.

Stories were floating around for ages about eto'o causing a lot of unrest in the dressing rooms. There were rumors of pep being racist and all sorts.

He was meant to be quite a destructive force behind the scenes and pep decided it appears to get rid of him.

Went for Ibra as he is big and strong up front something they needed against the bigger teams in Europe (ala Chelsea).

Still was a crap deal mind but you don't know how much of the price was down to him.

"I know that sooner or later I will cease to be coach of Barca and I have to enjoy the time I’m here to the maximum. A coach of Barca can’t be here for life. I think that you have to sign for short periods in which the coach has to earn things, with the players, with the fans"

I think I also read an article last year where he said his stay will be short as the stress is too high

Exactly. I'm sure most people couldn't see Frank Rijkaard leaving either.. until it all went sour at Barca.

Eto'o was causing divisions within the dressing room and wanted an exit. The manner of his exit was shocking to say the least though. Guardiola has been recommended, doesn't mean he wants it or would go/be allowed to go if he were ever offered the job. More than likely if the timing is right then it will be Jose imo.

pep was almost about to quit barcelona a year ago thats why he started learning english it wouldn't surprise me at all to see him managin united the only worry i would have with him is he doesn't tend to buy well in the transfer market and he inherited most of his team from rijkaard so thats the only bad thing i have to say about him.

For me the key is the performances of the same team under pepe and the dutchman. Rijkaard might have won the cl but he let go two league championships to a much weaker real team.
