Pepsi Max

If Pepsi max is like coke, have a read of this:

WATER

1. 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated. (Likely applies to half the world population.)

2 In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak. That it is mistaken for hunger.

3. Even MILD dehydration will slow down one's metabolism as 3%.

4 One glass of water will shut down midnight hunger pangs. For almost 100% of the dieters studied in a University of Washington study.

5 Lack of water, the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue.

6. Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain

For up to 80% of sufferers.

7. A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term Memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on the computer screen or on a printed page.

8. Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of Colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast

Cancer by 79%., and one is 50% less likely to develop bladder cancer. Are you drinking the amount of water

You should drink every day?

COKE

1. In many states the highway patrol carries two gallons of Coke in the trunk to remove blood from the highway after a car accident.

2. You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of Coke and it will be gone in two days.

3. To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coca-Cola into the toilet bowl and let the "real thing" sit for one hour, then flush clean. The citric acid in Coke removes stains from vitreous China.

4. To remove rust spots >from chrome car bumpers: Rub the bumper with a rumpled-up piece of Reynolds

Wrap aluminum foil dipped in Coca-Cola.

5. To clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Pour a can of Coca-Cola over the terminals to bubble away the corrosion.

6. To loosen a rusted bolt: Apply a cloth soaked in Coca-Cola to the rusted bolt for several minutes.

7. To bake a moist ham: Empty a can of Coca-Cola into the baking pan, wrap the ham in aluminium foil, and bake.

Thirty minutes before ham is finished, remove the foil, allowing the drippings to mix with the Coke for a sumptuous brown gravy.

8... To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of Coke into the load of greasy clothes, add detergent, and run through a regular cycle. The Coca-Cola will help loosen grease stains. It will also clean road haze from your windshield.

FOR YOUR INFORMATION:

1. The active ingredient in Coke is phosphoric acid. It will dissolve a nail in about four days. Phosphoric Acid also leaches calcium from bones and is a major contributor to the rising increase of osteoporosis.

2. To carry Coca-Cola syrup! (the concentrate) the commercial trucks must use a hazardous Material place cards reserved for highly corrosive materials.

3. The distributors of Coke have been using it to clean engines of the trucks for about 20 years!

Now the question is, would you like a glass of water?

5-6ltrs per week isn't a massive amount.

I go through 1.5-2ltr of pepsi max per day during the week, my colleague has double this.

To be fair,

The grease on laundry says pour the coke over and then wash as normal with detergent. They just left it to soak for 4 days and no washing.

Coke is meant to clean toilets of normal dirt and grime etc. They applied engine grease all over the toilet and tried to clean it with coke. Does normal toilet cleaner remove engine oild from your toilet and how many times do you pour your car oil change down the loo?

I'll give you the rust and the t bone steak one though.;)

However, it is true about the acid leaches calcium from your bones and that is a good enough reason not to drink too much of it.

You need to seek help. That is way too much. The guy working next door to us, used to drink 4 litres a day and eventually he needed medical treatment.

There are numerous medical articles relating excessive cola drinking to extreme muscle weakness.

I used to drink a lot of 'dietry' fizzy drinks but have started drinking lots of water and only the occasional can and I feel much better.

On a side note, I used to suffer from what i describe as 'panic dreams'. They last a very short space of time and it feels horrible, I used to have them 4 or 5 times a night but now only once or twice. It's hard to explain but it just feels like adrenaline increasing and I force myself to wake up. Maybe someone is aware of what it is!

I suggest you Google the effects of aspartame.... seriously.

Sugar free soft drinks are a lot more dangerous to your health than standard sugar laden ones.

i've been drinking aspartame drinks ever since they were invented and I've still got all my own teeth, hair and I haven't had a day off work since 1988.
Scaremongering

Just thought I'd update this...

I have massively reduced the amount of fizzy drinks I am consuming... and can probably count on 1 hand the amount I've had since the 23rd of April.. I have been drinking plain water and also mixing it with some barley water :)

I've struggled when going out but tbh I haven't been out much.. and try to stick to beer or straight whiskey when possible.

So.. basically put I've been about 3 months off the stuff :)

I've just this week started a new "fasting" phase.. no cheese or chocolate.

Now this is a lot harder than you would think.. since I am a vegetarian who doesn't eat fish... so its pretty hard to find stuff to eat. I am allowing myself one cheat day tho.. a Friday.. but other than that I seem to be doing pretty good :)

I need to ask a question.

How can a drink which contains no sugar be bad for the teeth?

I've been drinking Pepsi Max in pretty huge quantities for years, I don't have a single filling and all my teeth are my own.

I need to know more about the people that claim they don't like the taste of water.... You guys drinking raw sewerage or something ?

Acids like phosphoric acid can cause enamel erosion and probably increase your chances of cavities etc.

Stolen from wiki

A large number of soft drinks are acidic, and some may have a pH of 3.0 or even lower.[30] Drinking acidic drinks over a long period of time and continuous sipping can therefore erode the tooth enamel. Drinking through a straw is often advised by dentists as the drink is then swallowed from the back of the mouth and does not come into contact with the teeth as much. It has also been suggested that brushing teeth right after drinking soft drinks should be avoided as this can result in additional erosion to the teeth due to the presence of acid.[31][32]

Same here but the Coca Cola variety.
I have all my own teeth, get through about 10 litres a week and when I go for my 6 month checkup I'll have 1 filling every 2 years.

Water is tasteless, in fact if it had raw sewerage in, it might taste a lot better.

I'd feel awful after drinking that much pepsi.

All I ever drink is tea, coffee and juice, I very rarely have anything with caffeine in it too. I'd think it is very likely that 6 litre of Pepsi or Pepsi max a week is very unhealthy.

To hell with drinking just plain water, horrible, maybe if it was a matter of survival then fine.

:-/

Anything more than 3-4 litres a week is just ridiculous (1-2cans/day ave) IMO.

I'm far from someone to jump on the 'aspartame is bad ZOMG' bandwagon but the caffeine and potential insulin-derived effects are seriously not cool - moderation is the key word - sodas should be viewed as a 'treat' not a fundamental component of a weekly diet.

I have no idea how plain water is 'horrible' if you really struggle chill it and squeeze half a lemon into it, far more refreshing than any soda and so so much better for you.

That aspartame thing is true. In the case scientists when they fed it to mice they did develop cancer.

But the amounts they fed to the mice, for people to ingest the same relative quantity, we're talking kilos of the stuff.

I'm trying to consciously drink more water. I still love the taste of soft drinks. Sprite zero is my new weakness. Quite funny really, had a supplier say to me "diet coke is my champagne"

I usually bring a bottle of diluted cordial to work. If it was just plain water I just wouldnt drink as much of it.

Sometimes though when I'm thirsty, drinking fizzy stuff doesnt quench my thirst.

Not read the entire thread, but been drinking pepsi-max >10 litres a week for about 10 years now, no fillings, no bad dentistry issues and i'm gonna die one day so if this rubbish in it does it then better than landing on a nail.

dude thats absoloutly disgusting!

Ewwwwww I use to drink a lot of coke i dont anymore its to unhealthy to drink a litre or so a day.

I changed over to Juice and what nots i do have coke here and there with my meals but Its so easy to get carried away with coke not realising how many calories your drinking lol.
