Just thinking what I could buy next for my car, was looking at the S2KI forums and noticed a nice private plate.

S200 0NL which with the third 0 moved over could be rather nice as my intials are NL. S2000 NL

I'm not too sure what these plates are really worth, I've asked what it would take for the current owner to sell and I'm wondering on ideas on it's value.

Been looking on Newreg and some of the above style plates are going for 2K and one or two up to 20K.

Silly or good idea on a car like mine?

Neil.

Do you have an S2000? Would look good if you do. I like clever personal plates, but not cheepo irish 3 letter 4 number ones on a ropey old car. Keep seeing a plumber's van on the way to work with P19 SHT which makes me smile. :D

It is an offence to alter, rearrange or misrepresent letters or numbers in order to form names or words. If your number is S200 ONL then displaying S200O NL will be illegal.

It always seems a false economy to buy a reg that only means something if you are a certain person that owns a certain car. no one buying the car will want to pay anything near what you paid for it (unless they have initials NL ;)) and you won't want to keep it when you no longer own an S2000.

Personally, I think personal plates make you and your car look like a tool.

There is a guy in Sheffield with a drop top Merc with the plate B3 N** arranged to say, would you beleive it, B3N **, I enjoy nothing more than shouting "BEN!" at the guy a la Alan Partridge style.

I don't think plates that have something to do with a particular car are worth it.

If it's something you can take to any/all cars, such as my dad's (AJM xxxA) then that's OK, as it can follow you around to whatever car you decide to buy for the rest of your life.

Been thinking about it, going to scrap the idea. Will buy other bits for my car instead.

Just bought a FD2 Civic Gear Knob and 04 S2000 silver radio door.

Sig will be updated this weekend :)

Neil.

Having had a private plate on my old 7 series - my initials -, I found the "novelty" soon wore off, so much so, I happily sold the plate with the car (& its still on it!)

Tbh, I don't know why I bothered with it in the first place.

I think private plates are pretty cool...but not when relative to a car unless it's a super car or something...such as, the XJ220 that was posted in the daily spotted thread - the plate on that was awesome! :D

However, unless the person you sell your car to has the intials NL - I wouldn't bother...

PeterNem has a good plate :)

I think they make a massive difference, my plate makes my car look so much better and i have had comments as such all over the place. Compared with a generic T plate its night and day :/

Do it imo :)

Bet that cost a little bit, Jez :)

I was going to get M420 TUB, but not so sure now. Seems a bit pointless when to 99.99% of people, it'll just look like a normal number plate.

i think private plates make cars look great, as long as they're not too long or short - then they look daft. 5 characters is the best length imo
