Peel the plate off slowly and carefully, using a hairdryer if needed to soften the sticky pads a bit.RobP said:On a related note, anyone know a good way to get the number plate off a car if it's been stuck on with adhesive pads? My girlfriend had personalised reg plates and was keeping them when she sold her car a while back so had to change it's plates before selling. We ended up just sticking the new ones over the top!

Chuck some hot water over it first too, it'll soften the pads. Fishing line used as a 'saw' is also recommended but I've never tried it.Vertigo1 said:Peel the plate off slowly and carefully, using a hairdryer if needed to soften the sticky pads a bit.
Once the plate is off it will probably leave the pads still stuck to the car, or at least the sticky residue underneath them. Use a decent jetwash on this, will take it clean off.

Doesn't matter. I posted something which has been alleged in certain finance houses which I was able to prove wrong with a little Google action, so removed it.R124/LA420 said:Pardon![]()
