Have to say though that R124's plate was a good example of how not to do it. It's a prefacelift E38 so it could be anything up to an L plate anyway - so sticking a K plate on it with 2 digits (There are numerous of normally issued non personalised plates out there with two numbers) means it looks like.. a K reg E38. People often get confused with this - there is a guy in the office at work who has a regular car with its original plate and gets asked if its 'private' because people get confused.

If he had K4 PDC instead, this wouldnt be the case, as there are no normally issued single digit plates.

I agree entirely Fox, and if I was to get another (which tbh I doubt in the extreme) I would get a different number combo.

Sure, K 4 PDC would have been a better bet, alas, instead of the £250 that the K40 plate cost, it was ,iirc, around £700 - quite a difference!

O/T: I notice you always refer to me as R124, even though I'm currently R420.... and possibly soon to be R440.... Should I just ask the Dons to change me back to R124? or just call myself something like "Rubber Duck" ? :D

I'd like a personalised plate that doesn't look like one.

Funny thing was when Dad got one of his company Audi's the plate was WM02 MDJ. To you and me that means nothing (well other than he got it from a Bristol dealer in 2002), but MDJ is the initials of one of the other company directors - whose previously gone and bought personalised plates for all his personal cars :p :D.

When I finally grow out of the Saxo and replace it I won't be buying new, so I'll probably go and stick a personalised plate on whatever I get unless it's local. I really like the fact that all our cars at home are WN, WP, WU, WV. All local ones as we got them new from the local dealers. When driving around town you always end up thnking to yourself when you see someone getting the lanes wrong "Oh, CK. That's not a local plate. Ruddy tourists."

Something that's our region (WM-WY), the correct year and then EDB would be my ideal.

Still not got that sorted? :p
