Pete Doherty

No argument from me on the musical front.

The point I'm trying to make is that those people who seem to think imprisonment or euthanasia is appropriate for all drug users should have a think about what they're suggesting.

I don't believe anyone said it was appropriate for ALL drug users, did they?

which means it's just because he's a famous drug user which would mean drug use isn't the issue and that they are saying all famous people should be euthanised?

Or with the application of common sense;

People are annoyed because he's largely famous because of his drug usage. Half his records are probably sold off the back of drug usage.

If someone says to you 'Pete Doherty', most people think 'junkie'. If you say to them 'Jimi Hendrix' they think 'musical legend'.

People don't generally see why someone so largely bereft of talent and also a complete smack head to boot, should be in the position of fame and wealth that he is. Assuming of course he has any wealth and hasn't just injected it all.

I don't think anyone is actually seriously suggesting anyone be killed or jailed, it's the internet after all. Everyone exaggerates.

.

do people hate porn stars? yet many hate Paris cause she got famous for a sex tape and doing nothing basically.

people **** off nearly every celebrity regardless of what that person is famous for.

with the only common feature between all the people they claim to hate is they are famous.

It has been insinuated in several posts as you're well aware. The two most obvious were these:

To jail for repeatedly breaking the law by purchasing and using Class A drugs, which, whether you agree with or not, is a criminal offence.

The kid's a smack head, and should be jailed.

Unless, of course, the two posters meant that only Doherty should be jailed for these offences.

There have also been numerous references to "junkie scum" etc. It seems pretty clear to me what many people are implying.

I find it quite amazing how so many people can just jump up so readily and say he deserves to die or get killed or shot or whatever. It's quite frightening. Get a grip people. He may be a druggy, and grabs a lot of headlines, but so what, doesn't make an impact on your lives, yet there's a lot of extremely militant attitudes going on here. I would even go as far as to say that he's contributed way more to society here than pretty much everyone else posting in this thread by his global-selling music and high tax contributions. Take the chaff with the wheat.

Hang your head in shame for making such a pathetic and sickening excuse for that sniveling joke of a human being.

Thanks for attempting to tell me my own mind but if is I was well aware I wouldn't have questioned it. When you say "all drug users" you're being melodramatic to accentuate your point. :)

Sad, isn't it. Funny though. :D

I can't believe people respect Pete Docherty, despite his heavy drug abuse.

I also can't believe people respect the beatles, pink floyd, Jimmy Hendrix, the rolling stones, aerosmith.......

Quite.

All I am going to say is that this thread needs to watch, or listen to or whatever, to a bit of Bill Hicks.:)

I think that most people's problem with the talentless junkie is that he seems to get preferential treatment whenever he gets nicked and sent up before the beak. He gets a slap on the wrist and told not to do it again, yet a few weeks later he's at it again in public, and looks like he's basically giving the V's to the British public and the judicial system.

In fear of more reprisals for defending his actions when I'm actually not, I should point out that any other drug abuser would have been treated just the same. It happens all the time in the British judiciary, you get bad drug users who keep getting pulled in but not thrown into jail; it's bad but not severe enough to warrant jailtime. Even repeated drugs offenses won't be enough to jail anybody unless they commit severe civil disturbances or dole out the drugs themselves. It's not preferential treatment, it's just the way the media shows it. You try doing the same as Doherty, you'll get exactly the same results. They want to jail rapists, murderers and paedophiles while maintaining room in the vast prison complexes. Not throw silly little misguided boys like Doherty in the slammer for a few shoot-ups. That's just the way it is.

we don't really send any junkies to jail at the moment.

Yet, the law states that you can get up to 7 years inside and an unlimited fine for Heroin possession, he seems to get neither. Also, if I remember correctly, didn't he get photographed injecting an unconscious girl not long back? Surely that's assault at least.
