Dont forget that last year oil prices dipped to $60ish so we breifly went back into the 80p a litre area.

I'd forgotten about that. Should have stocked up :D Still doesn't account for the whole difference mind, that'd only get an extra couple of p of VAT and I need to find about 4p to get us to the same point, projecting my numbers onto 2008. Ah well, not to worry, I don;t get sacked if my internet stats don't add up :D

I can read the forum section title perfectly thankyou.

So why ask such a stupid question ?? All that aside, the point for me apart from a lot of us being car enthusiasts is that the tax on fuel is an insult as one of the main reasons for car use is to get to work. Therefore we are being taxed to get to work, so that we can earn the money that is taxed, so we can spend it on the things we need to be taxed on that.

Interesting to note that the hauliers baying for a 25p 'essential users' rebate (Are they suggesting everyone else just drives for a laugh? Ok I do, but most people dont) don't actually pay VAT anyway (Well they get it back) so they are paying 17.5% less than the rest of us..

Do you believe the haulage industry should be helped out in the current situation?

How are they helping out? They have their own agenda and they've asked for their own thing which does not involve the Motorist.

you misread he said should they be HELPED, not are they HELPING :p

I thought food supplys were not low but just like oil were more expensive because it was being traded by investors?
