No way that VDS, Giggs or Ferdinand should be there, there's been far better players than them.

Gerrard or Vidic for the main award and Ireland for the young player of the year.

Vidic or Giggs for main award.

For young players, I reckon it could be either Ireland, Young or Evans. Evans has contributed loads to Uniteds defensive problems this season..

Are these the actual nominations?

Rafael has played 10 league games, how the hell could be be young player of the year?!?!

Looking at the young lads nominated I reckon Bassong should be there as well, it was obvious he'd be overlooked but he's literally been amazing all year.

So despite giggs horrible early season, pretty useful midseason and horrible past 6-7 games, he gets a nomination, but the likes of Jagielka and Lescott, Cahill, Lampard, Anelka, Murphy, Hangeland, Behrami, Cole, RVP, Gallas, etc, etc, don't even get close to a look in. Frankly all of them have had far more consistant and effective seasons than Giggs midseason blip of form.

Lennon again was horrible and only recently "supposedly" hit form despite still being utterly useless, Rafael has barely played, Young and Gabby haven't hit the form/goals of last year and a very poor 2 months for the team though probably deserve consideration.

HaHa we dominate the nominations! :D

Dunno who my vote for the main award would go to to be honest, it seems a long time since Vidic was showing the form that prompted everyone to call him the player of the year so Gerrard would probably get my vote. Surely one Liverpool player wont beat 5 UTD ones though :p

Actually think Rooney should be in there, he's shown great form for club and country this season, VDS is obviously in there because of the record, Giggs' inclusion has been tipped for a while so no surprise there, Ronaldo is Ronaldo so he was always going to be mentioned, Rio though is an odd one, hasn't showed anywhere near the form he did last season and has been for the most part injured

Young player I'd give to Evans or Rafael but then I'm biased :D

Ronaldo is still by far Man U's best player, just because he isn't as good as last year doesn't change that and yes, Rooney is EASILY your second best VDS shouldn't be in there, record, whatever, nice run of games and a fantastic defence are what thats about, he really didn't have a single game where he did a Shay Given type 10 fantastic saves to keep them in the game, he had easy games with rare saves. Since then he's made mistake after mistake after mistake. Game after game for Newcastle and now City Shay keeps the team in the game with save after save, fantastic and a full range of saves, diving to tip one past the post, close up reaction saves, saving a great shot then getting right back up to save a rebound, if you had to have a keeper in there frankly Shay Given beats VDS hands down without breaking a sweat.

Maybe they should put a limit on one player per club in either catagory so people actually think about the nominations. I think Jag and Lescott pairing has been superb, Arsenal have the longest unbeaten run do they not, largely down to Gallas being fantastic game after game aswell as a good back 4. Rafael nomination just goes to show how ridiculous the award is, the fact he's in there with 10 whole games shows its completely biased and ridiculous.

Ok while I agree VDS shouldn't be in there regardless of the record I do think you're going a tad OTT with your assessment of him, firstly apart from the mistake at Newcastle he hasn't made any mistakes so you're wrong there. Secondly although you're correct in part about the midfield and defence having more to do with the record than VDS to say all our games were easy is far from the truth as in that run we played City, Villa, Spurs, Stoke and West Ham away with Chelsea and Everton at home none of which can be classed as easy fixtures

I'm guessing those nominations were voted for when Utd were considered incapable of conceding goals and a shoo-in for every trophy going including the Ryder Cup?

My prediction is it'll either go to Gerrard or Vidic depending on who wins the league.

Woah. Lol. I can understand Vidic, and maybe Giggs (as a wild card) but Van Der Sar, Ronaldo and Ferdinand. Lampard and Cahill should be in that list, maybe along with Taylor from Bolton. The young player list looks better but I'd question Da Silva given the amount of games he's played in.

Happy to have Ronaldo and Vidic on there from our lot. Not a chance in hell for the other lot.
