My YPOTY nominees (might change this after more thought, I've probably forgotten someone):

Hazard
Benteke
Lukaku
McCarthy
Rafael
Sterling

Wilshere has been very good but he missed the first few months of the season and I don't like giving out awards to part timers in that regard.

I know that usually British players or media darlings are heavily favoured but I think Suarez will (Deservedly) win. He is the best player in the league and I think is probably pushing for 3rd best player in the world.

I don't like Liverpool and Haven't been a fan of his until recently but he is brilliant and has been carrying a massive club on his back for almost 2 seasons now, he really is the complete player. He's an exciting and also has an amazing work rate and determination about his game, everyone likes a player like that even if they aren't a great guy (Tevez!)

Sterling's barely played in 2013 and doesn't really deserve to be included on that list but the other five are great shouts.

Yeah but the way these votes work is voting takes place in February anyway I think - before I added him to the list I checked his stats and he'd played 23 league games and 10 European games by the end of Feb which in my book puts him in contention as a well used player and is in fact more than Rafael has played all season including March on both counts for example. 2013 is (or rather should be) not that important for these votes.

edit: In fact of the six players I shortlisted, the only one with more appearances than him this season is Hazard.

Of course one could argue his performances haven't warranted being on the list and there are some unsavoury off the field allegations but personally I was impressed with him at the start of the season especially for a 17yo, he has also broken into the England team and at the moment I can't think of who is more deserving to push him off my list. I thought about players like DDG, Jenkinson, Davies etc but none of them are flawless, Nastacic hasn't played enough games, I suppose you could make a case of Walker maybe but having won it last year I feel I should be looking further afield.

Now now let's not get carried away now

Statistically it should be Morgan Schneiderlin, most miles run, most tackles per game, most interceptions per game, most important midfielder in the league.

At very least needs young player of the year but effective and high work rate isn't really fashionable...

Wouldn't be surprised if Bale got player of the year despite Suarez doing a lot more overall.
