PGA Tour 2K21

Just picked this up on Steam in the Winter sale. Haven't played a PGA type game since my mega drive days. Have to say I'm enjoying it. Started straight off on Pro Am just for the challenge, and seem to be doing OK ish. Only majro issue I have is hitting from the rough or the chip shots, they always seem to land way short, even if I club up, in say a 60% rough on say pitch or normal shot with the aiming circle beyond the pin, if I hit a clean 100% shot it will often lay up like 20 yards short. I must be doing something wrong but can't quite figure it.

How is this playing 3 months on?
Tempted for a golf game for the pc but undecided on this for £20 or just pick up GC19 for £5

I'm really enjoying it, you have to sort of look past the slightly dated graphics, and the 2K premium stuff (which in my opinion isn't that intrusive). The swing plane hitting method is really quite good. Challenging but rewarding. Would never pay full price but 50% off made it just about bearable cost wise :)

LOL I've been watching Cohh and friends playing the new multiplayer game mode on this, PGA Golf Battle Royale, who'd have thought ! Its actually pretty funny :D

Looks good fun! Hopefully this will mean I'll find someone in matchmaking as it's been terrible for me lately

Know replying to an old post and you may have bought - but I'd certainly get the newer version.

I've got both on my XBox and prefer 2k21 for the more focused feel on PGA and general slickness.

Cheers, I did go ahead and go for the 2k21 version and generally I'm pleased with how it plays and the mechanics but the matchmaking seems to be really lacking for me on PC.
With my current circumstances playing a quick 3 or 9 holes against randoms really suits but it's been days now and I've not been able to match at multiple times of the day.

Yeah, can be a bit finicky on the XBox sometimes as well , had a few random freezes in online games.

What level do you play on - I've just moved up to pro and the difficulty is insane compared to amateur. To help I've bought the most forgiving clubs I can but timing can be hit and miss and keeping it in the swing plane can be a struggle.

Definitely more of a challenge - on the easier settings was often getting -15 to -18 on a round, but best I've had on pro is -5 and not managed to win a tournament in career mode yet on pro setting (whereas on the easier modes it was pretty much a given I'd come first, so in reality pretty unrealistic).

Pro-Am is what I usually play on as Pro gets pretty tricky after a few beers.

Think I might knock it back to this setting, I went for pro because that's the default online setting so trying to get competent on this mode, but don't want it wrecking the game enjoyment for me.

Hi all, just wanted to see how people are enjoying this game. I used to play the Tiger Woods series, so it's about time I got a new golf game, and I see we can pick this up for about 15 euro now for the basic version. Do you need the premium version?

The premium just has additional cosmetic nonsense as far as I'm aware.

basic version here, haven't played loads and loads but what I have has been great fun. Well put together game and easily worth 15 euros IMO :)

So a few hours in, and really enjoying it. Playing on the controller, at Pro-Am level - found on Pro that I was messing up quite a lot of tee shots. Lots of great courses, and at the moment, I'm staying with the standard clubs that you get with the game.

A thumbs up from me!

I haven't played in a while but I think its a great game and very addictive.

I tend to play on the pro setting with a pad and I've got to a point where I'm pretty consistent but nowhere near as good as some of the people I've played against online. A good round for me is probably - 5/-6.

I don't think the standard clubs are bad at all. None of the others are massively better as to gain an increase in one stat, you tend to lose out in another so it's all personal preference.
