*** Phanteks EVOLV Owners Thread ***

Rustyone, what x99 mobo are you using man, I know yours is really tight, I wanna check out it's dimensions to see what's comfy.

I'm looking at an MSI mobo, possibly a Godlike but this seems to go beyond the max width. A gaming 9 which is dead on the max listed width, and the gamin 7 which looks like a genuine/Standard ATX.

Board is an EVGA Classified X99, no problem with the size it was just the 24 Pin cable had to run it through the Hard Drive blanking slot.

I've just dismantled the case now,it was just a bit small for what I needed, doing a build in a Primo now.

Yeah, had a look at your pics and that's what I wanted to avoid, it's a 264mm which is exactly what the gaming 9 is, so that probably totally rules out the Godlike and the gaming 9 would be fiddly just like yours. guess I'm stuck with the 7 if I do this x99 :S

Cheers for the response :)

The problem is not the size of the board, it's the fact the EVGA 24 pin connector sits straight off the edge of the board, unlike most others that sit at 90, ie facing up from the board, this style will allow the cable t feed out from the passthrough and connect.

Overall I really like this case but I in my opinion a few things could be improved;

1) I didn't like the white PCI covers. I swapped them out for black ones.
2) The plate that sits above the HDD cage had to be cut in half to accommodate the res and rad as shown in the pictures. This could have been designed as a split plate.
3) The PSU cut out looks ace but is covered when the side window is closed.
4) The most annoying bit....the HDD mount located at the bottom of the case should be included with the case! I had to buy the optional accessory. If you mount a 360 rad in the front you can't mount a HDD anywhere without this additional mount. For a case designed for water cooling in mind this should have been included.

Other than the above minor points, this is an excellent case and a joy to work with.

Here are some pictures of the build;

Thanks :)

That looks really good ;) far better than I could ever do.

As much as I love this case in terms of its looks and its build quality.....I'm getting a bit tired of having to take the front panel off every time I play a game......as with the front on, my temps get into the 60-70 mark on the CPU and the top of the case becomes very warm to touch....take off the front panel and the temps drop down to about 40c and the top is no way near as warm.....not the best design in terms of cooling with water. :(

I took of the front, top and side panels over summer and they are staying off.

What fans are you using as intake? I currently will drop around 10c on my 980Ti when in Witcher 3 if I take the front off mine. I removed the 200mm fan and replaced it with two 120mm Silent Wings. I am thinking of trying some fans with a higher static pressure like the NF-F12's to see if a stronger fan can pull more air through the front with the panel in place.

I have the ATX version, but where my pump/res sits, I can only have a 240 rad with 2 x 120 SP120 Corsair fans as intake......with all covers on, it turns into an oven.

Can't say mine ran too hot, but I think cutting the front panel and fitting a grill would certainly help out with airflow, best plan would be for Phanteks to bring out a V2 panel and offer it as an extra to owners at a low cost.

For those who dont read project logs here is matx with custom side panel.

Worth going from an enthoo pro to an evolv atx? main reason i want to swap is case colour, really don't like titanium green anymore. As far as the case goes the enthoo pro is brilliant but i think the evolv looks a lot nicer.

The Evolv is certainly well made it puts many more expensive cases to shame, airflow is not as good as some but it works ok with decent fans, I just changed from the Evolv to a Primo, but don't like it as much temps are the same.

Time to try a Luxe now :)

Hi, These installs looks great!
Im about to get a x99 system build on the go.. would an asus rampage v extreme board fit the evolv atx case?
according to the numbers, the mb is about 7mm wider than the specs of the case say.
anyone used the rve successfully?

Yes, E-ATX boards will fit, there are plenty of builds using them :)

Spend the best part of my weekend transfering from my oversized LianLi P80N into an Evolv ATX (sorry for phone pic)

Moving from such a large case into this was a much bigger pain that thought.
The main problems I had where with 7 expansion slots as you can see in my image I can only just fit in my 2nd card with the angled fitting then once all my WC was in I had to then plug in the front jumpers which was close to impossible with such a small gap.

With so much in the case I found that my top radiator rubbed with the sliding rails removing some paint.

Few things that I think would make the case a bit better
1. 8 expansion slots
2. Case to be a few cm Longer to better fit a 360mm radiator along with a rear fan and a front Radiator
3. A solid base rather than a mesh would have been better
4. Not having white expansion covers on a totally black case.

Overall though I do really like the case, it is hard to find a case not made of Alu that I actually like.
