PHANTEKS EVOLV X & P600S

Quick question on front radiator clearance. I'm really wanting to get an Evolv X for my new build, but from the manual it looks like there is a maximum clearance of 148mm of width in the front. I have a Hardware Labs 280GTX (312mm x 153mm x 54mm) that I really want to put in the front. Is there any play in that 148mm width? I'd hate to have to buy a new radiator just so I can get this case.

I'm using EK CE 420 at the front and EK CE 280 top and even with the fans it looks fine. These are 45mm thick if i remember. To give a an idea of thickness, the top one (with fan) just overlaps the rear fan by 4-5mm.

@martos123

reading through this post I saw that you are using a radiator setup identical to what I consider using: a 420CE on the front and a 280CE at the top.

I have been searching online for quite some days and you are the only person I found with a top mounted 280CE in an Evolv X. That's why I thought you might be able to help me.
My concern is about clearance issues with the the 280CE mounted up top... Its combined thickness with the fans comes at a 70mm which is juuuust 5mm more than the clearance i can see in the Evolv X's manual.
Did you face any problems mounting the 280CE up top or you were able to install it without any modifications? Does the rad come close the the motherboard or memory for you?
And about the rear fan, is there still room for it or does it need to be completely removed??

Any insight you could provide would be super helpful for me as I am quite lost at this point. If you also have some pictures of the top radiator section of your case that would be truly fantastic.

Thanks in advance for any input you might have!

Ael

Hi Ael,

I didn't have any problem with the motherboard itself, as the radiator isn't the full width of the case, but the cpu power connector is a bit awkward to get in. The mounting plate at the top of the case is on tmumbscrews and can be hinged if you need a bit more space.

This setup is overkill for my cpu and you to be honest, but it means I can run my fans really slowly. I did end up replacing the fan controller though as the phanteks one was doing odd things.

I'll post a picture if you want?

I have the ce420 up front and the se240 up top and it’s s very easy to work with fit. Looks good to. I’ve just fitted the d140 distribution plate and should be up and running tomorrow once a few last fittings arrived.

I run an 8700k/2080ti and I get 60oC/high 40’s oC respectively during long gaming settings prior to the d140.

Wow this was some great insight martos, thank you very much!

The setup is kinda overkill for a CPU and a single GPU but just like you, acoustics are important for me that's why I lean towards a setup like this. But in the end a CE420 and a SE280 might be more than enough for what I'm trying to achieve.

A picture would be super helpful as well, so please whenever you find the time please post it!

Once again, thank you very much!

Wow, the D140 does look great Dumphole! Unfortunately, it does rule out the option for vertical gpu placement. Sadly D140s are extremely hard to come by around here

Not true. I spoke to Phanteks a d they said it’s compatible with their vertical gpu bracket.

My bad for not clarifying,

I was talking about the native bracket that comes with the evolv X, which places the card to the existing vertical cut-outs which are covered by the D140.

But as you said the vertical kit that places the GPU further inside is still compatible!

How does it work with the p600s if you have top mounted fans)radiator but have the panel on? Does it have vents so it can still exhaust? Or do you have to remove the panel if you want to use the top mountings? Got mine coming Tuesday.

But worried about my children and tempered glass. But it was cheaper to get that one than the metal sided one with the sale. Also it looks nicer.

Can anyone tell me the gap from the front of the fan mount points on the front of the case to the end of the opening in the PSU cover at the bottom? So effectively what is the maximum for a radiator including fans before the PSU cover would need to be removed.

I do wish these manufacturers would show pictures with detailed dimensions internally and externally. It would make life so much easier for us. And also what materials are used.

What is the PSU cover made from? Is it just plastic?

Assuming your talking about the p600s and not the evolv X

Check pages 18-20 of the manual for info on radiator clearances etc
http://www.phanteks.com/assets/manuals/PH-EC600PSTG.pdf

As for the PSU cover it is steel

Thanks but the dimension data is still sadly lacking. If anyone can measure this, it would be very helpful.

What is the height from the top of the PSU cover to the inside of the bare roof?

Can the whole PSU cover be removed easily?

Hard to get an exact measurement but from the top of the psu cover to the inside roof i make it 35cm

and i dont believe the cover is removable.. i suppose with a bit of diy knowledge you might be able to get it off but it looks to be fitted with rivets and not screws

it might be best to go to a shop and ask if you can see one to take the measurements etc

hope this helps anyway :)

I have ordered a P600S and will be trying to squeeze a 60mm 420 and a 60mm 360 in the case along with a D5 and Barrow res. I will update once done

Yes please and tons of pics! I'm wanting to do my first custom loop and having the P600s myself would be very very interested to see how you get on!
