yeah wasnt supposed to be a quote of your posts.... i messed up slightly there :p ;)

Well just ordered 5 prints for now! So you've saved me £35! Or depending how you look at it, cost me £29.95 seeing as I wouldnt have made the order without seeing you post! :p Don't worry I accept paypal.

I have a feeling a few people may be getting posters for their birthdays!!

Out of interest how much storage have people clocked up on photobox? I just noticed I'm upto 1350MB! Not to shabby.

How can you check how much space you have? I just see it as a bar :\

I must have a fair bit by now though!
Hang your mouse over the bar for a second or two :)

Thanks I never knew that, 151mb used out of 1600mb... not bad.

Just ordering 5 or 6 posters thanks very much for the heads up SDK^.

Anyone know where I can get a2 (pref) or 20x30 photo frames from?

And thx you just saved me from gettin off me ass and finding the wife her birthday present!

I use Ikea 50*70 cm ones. They're bigger than A2 so will take a mounted print very well but you do need to trim a 20"x30" print a wee bit to fit them.

PS anyone know where I can get walls for a similar kind of price? I've got a few shots I fancy printing but I'm running out of space :(

For some reason the office firewall has blocked photobox??

What sort of settings do you need to use for the picture you upload? i.e dpi, canvas size etc

Will a 6Mb picture from a 300D be of sufficient quality?

Do you upload jpg's or another format for this size of picture?

I haven't got a photobox account but these posters may tempt me!!

I crop my images to 30x20 in ps before sending and its defaulted to 300dpi. I think ps scales the res up or something. I don't think its completely necessary to do this as photobox scales all the pictures you send.

Regards quality, i've had great prints from my 8mb 350d, I doubt the quality from the 300d will be hugely different so give it a go!

They do accept a couple of different image formats, check the website for details. I always use jpegs though.

It'll be fine for A2 at least, I've got a couple that size on the wall which were taken on my D60, so 6Mp originals.

So what pictures have you guys got printed? I only have a fuji S5500 4mp jobbie, but have gone for a 30x20 print anyway :). Paint shop pro upscaled it and then I stuck a bit of usm on it, so it should be fine right... :p. Be interesting to see how it comes out, I have found that A3 posters look good if you stand back a bit, so hopefully A2ish will be fine.

Anyone want to donate a spare SLR to the 'Kimmett want a new camera' fund? :)

ooh looks like a nice offer :D I might get a couple printed

How come people are up-sampling their photos? I thought this would reduce the quality?

Up sampling will reduce the quality but it's a trade off between that and reduced quality when photobox upsample at their end to fit the paper - all the big prints are done at 245dpi Chances are that careful upsampling before sending will be better, especially if it's done in Genuine Fractals or the like.

Great offer, thanks for sharing SDK^
Guys what do you do to the images once they're upscaled? How do you sharpen them, what settings?

Thanks

Dumb question here.

Which is bigger A2 or 30x20?

I think I might take advantage of this, well if they let me upload this time. With the 8x10 offer I couldn't upload anything.

Airliners.net uses Photobox and has a box for promotional codes, although I'm struggling to find a shot that can be blown up to A2 at decent quality.

it says on the site, 6mp or above.... 3000 pixels or more

Though it does depend how far away you'll view it from :) If you're going to be looking at it from further away, then you could probably get away with less.

I am getting this image blown to 30x20:

IMG_4856.JPG

As seen in the GT/F3 thread.

I have cropped about 200 pixels off the entire image and Photobox has given it a 7/10 - Good. Have done smaller prints at 7/10 before and they have come out great so I am hopeful for this :) It's going on my wall in me room if any good so we shall see.

Actual image is about 3400 pixels wide as produced from a 350d.

Keep you updated.

I got 3 images done at 30x20 last time they did this, shot with the 20D with size/DPI set in Photoshop, and they all came out brilliantly.

The matt finish looks better if you are going to put them behind glass IMO.
