Mine seems to handle photoshop fine with lots of other apps running (google sketchup, iTunes, MSN, FF, games etc.), the HD being 5400rpm is probably the biggest bottleneck.

I suppose they aren't as resource heavy but you can pick up a core duo one for £400 which would be a little better than my dual core Turion (mine was £360)

You can get laptops for £350 new these days, far easier than lugging your whole desktop around surely, most uni students proberbly spent that much on beer in a month

Exactly. Rendering a 2 and a half hour video project atm, would take a lot longer on anything else believe me . Plus a laptop wouldn't come with anywhere near enough HDD space

I took my computer on holiday for about a week. (Obviously to go on OcUK).

I do have to admit I didn't take my monitors as I already have a couple at the house I was staying in.

A computer isn't too bad to carry around.

I also took a 20kg dumbell, so the computer was almost acceptable.

I have a broadband connection on holiday, so I wanted to make use of it. (I do actually have another computer there [I shouldn't really admit that], but it is only really good for small work; OcUK is big business. (Also I want multiple monitors, and the smaller computer does not have the right graphics card).

Heres my desk right now. Got my bank statement and SAAS letters out trying to work out if i have actually been paid the two previous student loan payments,got an empty class(got dominos on the way with pizza + cola) and mfi catalogues to the right for sizes for the 3d model im doing for the new kitchen my mum wants.
