Quite like that I'd have been tempted to maybe go back to try to get the rest of the stamen in focus but only if I could keep the petal that far out of focus.
Guess that's fairly easy to achieve with a few different shots stacked in PS but I'm not that great at PS :|
Finally found some Dragonflies except they were a bit camera shy :| I had to shuffle up to this one slowly and even then I didn't get as close as I'd like since they were all sitting in a pile of Nettles
It's a damselfly not a dragonfly
Dragons sit with their wings out sideways and have their eyes close together, damsels sit with the wings along the body and their eyes are out to the edges of the head.
Ah well there you go lol Shows what I know! I normally try to look up the bird names of anything I take pics of but I don't generally bother with insects since there's a lot more variety and I'm lazy hehe.
Went back to the same spot in the hope to find some real Dragonflies! I saw some but they weren't attention whory enough to come see me so I got more Damselflies and a few of this which is apparently a Demoiselle if the website I checked is anything to go by!
Damselflies are easier because they will sit still, even when you get close. Dragonflies spend a lot of time flying about defending their territory, and tend to fly off when you get too close.
Hah thanks I found a good spot and hung around there a lot so there were plenty of potential subjects so I made the most of them.
I like bees but they're hard to get good shots of since they never stop moving. It means its hard to get sharp shots and then also hard to get shots with their face in since they've usually got it buried in a flower.
Yeah tell me about it, not a good one to pick when I've only just started doing macro! The above shot was done without a tripod since I lack any form of patience to wait for them to come into shot, I must have looked like a nut case chasing bees around a bush . Plus I hate bees, so getting up close to them made me clench my cheeks together a bit.
