Ah yes that old chestnut! I've just won a Tamron SP AF 70-300 F/4-5.6 Di VC USD Lens for Canon for £230 intended for some more Motorsport and football. Been using a friends 100-400 L f4 and found f4 to be useable in most situations.

edit: Actually it was the Sigma 70-200 f2.8. You can pick these up for around £375 second (I literally just sold mine, although it was on Ebay and it went for £430. I sold my older 7D on there as well for £695!).

Thanks for the info!

Pretty much all of my motorsport photography the car isnt fully in focus. The front tends to be in focus but the rear doesnt. Can anyone advise? As a newcomer to motorsport and advice would be appreciated.

Its all about the focus plane. You need a higher shutter speed if you're going to shoot when a car is approaching and want to get more of the car in focus. It's the trade off when using a slower shutter speed unfortunately. I'll see if I can dig up a more technical explanation tomorrow.
