Raymond your recent pictures are fantastic, especially the tree shot in post #166 and #172.

An Exception, lovely set and although I like the composition of the second shot I'm drawn to the gray cloud and then I see it sat above the new bride and groom (but on crappy work monitor so it could actually be white and fluffy!). If the image was just the bottom half I think it would work really well.

I love the first and last shots Rhys. Nice work as well Russinating :)

I really enjoyed the "capture the moment" aspect of wedding photography, as soon as it got to formal shots though my interest waned. As for group shots, horrid! Ultimately I don't enjoy post processing either so wedding photography isn't for me :(

I can only imagine how much work has to go in to the video side of things, I've only dabbled a couple of times and that was enough for me!

Thanks
Yeh post processing is around 2 days work for me to deliver around 300-350 images.

I limit group shot's to about 8. I get an usher or best man to round people up to help speed the process up. In total group shot's usually take 10-15 minutes.

@russ

Really like that set!

Every wedding I shot, in the meetings with the client they always said group photos weren't that important. When the lists came through they wanted loads! I pointed out the impact due to the time required, but on the day they wanted group photos more than bride and groom. "The family is never together like this very often" etc...

Yup same here. It's come to the point where I'm throwing ideas around internally about how to get around this - maybe work up something unique in a group shot. That dinosaur shot where B/G and guests are all running away from the T-rex is amazing, after a shot like that, if done right, no other group shots are needed IMO.

The main problem is location. Unique ideas need special locations, which you won't have at your everyday registry office or parkside.

Branching out = Required :o

I send them this as an example group shot list. I tell them to budget 2-5 minutes per group shot.

1) B&G Brides family, Parents, Grandparents, Siblings
2) B&G Brides parents
3) B&G Brides parents + Grooms Parents
4) B&G Grooms Parents
5) B&G Grooms family, Parents, Grandparents, Siblings
6) Bride and Bridesmaids
7) Groom and Groomsmen
8) B&G + Friends

Oh I did similar, but it soon doubles with bride only, groom only shots, then with close friends, then the ushers, the bridesmaids, the hen party, the stag party, all the blokes, all the girls, all the kids, friends from work, friends from school, the football team, the rugby team, the god children, the god parents, the family from Ireland, the family from London, the dads, the mums, the sisters, the brothers, the....

I think 36 was the highest number that I was given.... "that is going to be difficult" was along the lines of how I replied :(

Jeez that's allot. The highest that's been suggested to me was 12 prior to the wedding. I told them to cut it down a bit to the must haves. :p

Tbh though I purposely don't show group shot's on my blog, with the exception of very recently where I have included bridesmaids lobbing their bouquets.

Often when new clients get in touch, they ask if half a dozen group shot's is allowed, then I send them the suggested list.
When they ask why I don't have many if any on my blog, I tell them I don't want to attract couples that want oodles of group shots.
