[PIC_THREAD] Wildlife, Animals, Birds, Zoo

Little dude that we found whilst moving some firewood around! A few months ago in Canada :)

I took a bunch of shots but it was a bit overcast and I was in the shade so I had to use longer exposures and missed a few! These were alright but I kinda wish I'd gotten closer shots of the eye too!

6863 which is the bird with the Afro is pretty cool :) I like the light hitting his obvious wig

6901 I wish there was more of this. Did you crop it tight to cut out something else or for some other reason? The turbulent water behind the bird looks nice but the crop seems way too tight

6960 is cool too... ASBO Bird wearking an anklet :D

Afro bird surprisingly had a attitude problem when the camera was taken out of its bag.

6901, yeah i had to crop out some other birds that overwhelmed the photo.

6960 haha yeah ASBO is what I thought.

I need a new long lens, the current sigma 75-300mm is soo fuzzy. Shame I'm a fan of primes... not very good for animal photography.

Primes are very good but unfortunately you're probably a fan of having money in your bank account too? :P 300mm F2.8L mk2 or the 400mm would be nice :) Maybe even that new 400mm F4 DO when it's out :D

Would have to switch brands of DSLR, There is no 400 mm for the Pentax and the 300mm is a F4. Might pick up a 50-500mm sigma lens for it.

Looking at upgrading my travel kit first though. which means new camera and prime lens so at least £2000 for a decent three lens kit. Gah why do I have no money

Like that last one :) First one has potential but I can't help but wish it was a little less tightly cropped to see more of the surroundings. The sun looks nice and low so having the ferns lit like that would be worth keeping rather than cropping out if that's what you did :)

Anyway, here's a shot from Canada this summer. It's not really a great shot since the Eagle is obscured but in a way I kinda like that. There were better shots where the Eagle was just surrounded by Gulls but not blocked but the AF was struggling here and the Eagle was out of focus :(

Ah well, here it is :)

I was going for the Gob shot & not paying attention to composition :(

Another one of him with a bit better framing
