Get out of the deal. If they want to play hardball, here's all the inspiration you need.

He will have to live with it for half the agreement and give it back, I'm not trudging through 17 odd pages of petty squabling.
If he has signed up on the premises then he is stuffed, Noob error number one from him, never sign up on the premises, always get them to do it by post.

Its not the end of the world.

Its not a HP/lease agreement, its a loan effectively, the car belongs to him. He's screwed until the very end unless he had the common sense to take it back

From carcraft website:

That's quite a few people if that's true, but I'm not sure what percentage of those people will have paid monthy, but I imagine it would be the majority...

I guess not everyone reads the small print or even looks at how much they actually pay in total (which seems to be the case here!) so I'm not sure how often people will actually try and cancel the deal?

Regardless, I guess they're making a lot of money if the figures are true, say they make an average of £1000 per deal, that's 50 million a year turnover!

Its probably their advertising that makes people believe they're a good place to buy a car from.

Things like their 120 point pre-delivery inspection :p. Plus you can drive away the same day \o/.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XH-u5Axg3Do - LOL @ all the comments, pretty much saying what we are saying to the OP.

Its the same with Safestyle windows, people go with their astronomical prices because of the adverts.

No it isnt, its in their terms and conditions, the car belongs to them until the debt is paid, its also referred to as a finance agreement and therefore is subject to the consumer credit act.

Really? Jesus....

So he cant even sell it before the term's up?

I only needed to read 5 pages.

Please James, listen to the other 17 pages of this thread dude.

Oh my god....this just got even better.

So even when it inevitably becomes a complete shed, he cant sell it to fund something decent without paying off his nightmare loan in full? This definitely is the FAIL of 2009

The interest for the whole term is also added on right away so if he wanted to pay it off tomorrow he'd still have to pay x years amount of interest. Or so I believe. It's shocking that it's even allowed.

It's like people have said though, it's aimed at people like this.

He's seen the ammount he's gonna be re-paying.. not shopped around properly and they've seen him coming a mile off.

Unless you've done something really, really bad finance wise there is no reason you couldn't of got a better deal through the dealer.. or even a decent smallish loan through your bank.

His dad applied for credit in his name which was rejected but he still tried again which screwed up his record. Had he of reported the fraudulent applications he could have almost certainly of been able to get a bank loan. I got my loan with no credit history from my building society which was for 1k over one year and it worked out I was charged about £80 for the loan.

You are almost as bad as he is with your numerous cars you didnt think through but hey who cares its £x per month finance deals.

I beg to differ. Ok maybe with the Focus that one I will admit I didn't think it through and I ended up getting rid of it 3 months later, the Cooper was just a dog mechanically and the Cooper S touch wood is fine, no problems except with having to replace consumables.

The only thing it's had done warrenty wise is the Engine mounts BEFORE I picked it up.

It's not like I owe the earth on it either. At least the difference is that with all the interest and everything added I only owe a few hundred over the cars value atm.
