The OP is 19, a kid, naive about the world and about money. He has made a big mistake, he will come to regret it if he doesn't already, and he will learn from it. Most of us here are a bit older or wiser but none of us should take any pleasure in seeing the expensive mistake he has made, or any satisfaction in pointing that out to him :)

older and wiser, precisely

he should heed our wise words, fair enough their are a few "lol w0t a p33n!" replies but the majority of replies are begging him to return the car immediately. As he still hasnt replied we can only assume he is ignoring our wise and sage like advice, that's arguably stupid and as such he really does deserve a good ribbing.

Comment for great justice.

I'm 19, I managed to get myself a clio too... bought for £3850 and sold for £3500 a year later. Mine was an 03, but it was pretty much top of the range for the engine size - the Dynamique Billabong "limited edition".

P***taking aside, I'd just like to point out that "The OP is 19, a kid, naive about the world and about money" is slightly offensive in some respects. I'm 19, I manage to feed myself, pay the rent, clothe myself and provide my transport (trains at the moment, but back to a car in 2 weeks) - age isn't an obstacle to being sensible with money.

The OP was rash and is spending far more money than they need to, a 5/6 year old hatchback is about £3000-3500 and won't cost any more in maintenance than a 3 year old car (in fact, likely less as it will have just had cambelt changes and a major service).

If you have to buy it on finance, you shouldn't be looking at "nearly new" or even "quite new".

dude i was agreed to a 160/month 5 years monthly payments when i bought my brand new fiesta back in 2004 , brand new i repeat and you managed to buy a second hand for the same money ????? Why didnt you go to an authorized dealer and buy a new one? you could be mentioned in top gear dude , i have never heard a story like this in my life , and i am getting old :D

I was just writing a similar post - pretty much the same boat I was in.

No it isn't, but the average 19 year old is a bit wet behind the ears in that regard I think it's fair to say. Obviously you are an exception.

hope someone else hasn't done this and posted it earlier in the thread (i can't bear to read it all)

It isn't always easy to admit to yourself that you've made a mistake.

The sad thing is, if the OP had actually heeded the advice in the thread early on, he might've had to time to correct his mistake and come out of the whole deal with a better car and less financial commitment! I guess some people are destined to learn the hard way.

James07 just admit it was a silly thing to do and take it back. Then buy something for half the price and much nicer. youll feel better...

He can't, it's too late. You need to act fast in these situations, not sit with your hands in your ears going la la la la la I'm happy and you all want to spoil it for me. He's going to have to realise in his own mistake and if he doesn't good luck to him in life because he'll need it. He didn't post asking for advice because we've already talked him out of restoring his Punto and buying a dog of an RS Turbo. I'm really glad that he's happy with his car and I hope he'll be happy with it for 5 years but I would bet my last penny that in two years or so he will absolutely hate the sight of it and he'll regret it for a long long time to come.

As soon as I read the first page of this thread I imagined just how bad I'd feel if I was in this kids place, probably like I was sinking into a black hole or similar - but what amazes me about this thread is how stubbornly he is backing up his bad decision, it's mind blowing.

I thought that the Carcraft Clio quote that somebody posted the pictures of in GD were a wind-up! So I spent a good hour reading through this entire thread, quite frankly I'm shocked that the OP thinks it's perfectly fine to pay that over-inflated price for that car and that he doesn't realise Carcraft have completely ripped him off. Hell, he could have saved a few months payments into the bank and got a half decent run-around that'd last him a year or two.
+1

epic fail...

When I was 19 I bought a car the same age as the op's - 4 years old. Except it was a top of the range Mondeo and it cost less than 3 grand. His age is no excuse.

Quoted for the truth.

I bought my 03 Clio Billabong last year for 3.5k (whilst I was 19) and that's only because I got 1k p/x for a car worth 700 tops :)

/sigh
