Media centre PC. It'll mainly handle playing streams, iplayer/4od/youtube. Will also play media from the HP Microserver that lives under the stairs.

I've had a chipped classic xbox for the past ~8 years, but it can't handle HD. This was the final phase, FTTC was installed in March, 37"CRT was replaced in June and now the xbox is replaced. The new zbox comes with a bracket to mount it onto the back of the TV - which is perfect :)

Ahh so you are using that as the player and have the microserver for storage?

I just built a shuttle to put under the TV with a couple of 1.5tb drives in. Our cupboard isn't big enough to get anything else in it :(
 
Yeah, but as I say - it'll mostly be streaming content from the net I reckon. Most of what is on the server is old (SD) stuff. I can't be doing with the sound of spinning discs, and didn't fancy having them power cycle all day long. So this stays on all the time instead;

In the cupboard under the stairs of a rented house? No. Not worth the hassle of cracking open the consumer board to length a cable by ~50mm!
