I had a similar crash. Except it was 10mph instead of 80mph and it was a bicycle instead of a car and it was a head on collision with a tree....

The guy coming the wrong way was drunk, had very serious internal injuries & was sentenced to 8 months in prison.

Good news you are getting past it but it's a truly pathetic punishment for what he has done.

It's impressive that you are walking again now, given the damage to your car, the way the dash and steering wheel have moved I am surprised you aren't at least paralysed. I'm glad you aren't though.

Also, I think you might need a new radiator there

Glad yourself and wife, child walked away from this! All those photo's are very sobering and a miracle in itself that you all walked away from a head on collision at 80 mph. As others have said eight months does seem way to lenient!

Disgraceful "punishment" for the at fault party, given the earlier discussion of combined speed, thank God you did not meet an HGV.
