Pictures of my car accident

Dont take this the wrong way as its a genuine question I ask myself every time I see this sort of awful accident in the news.

Did you not see him coming towards you and attempt to swerve?

Hmmm, i think it's hard to imagine if you're not in the situation. Perhaps someone in front of him only saw the car at the last second and swerved, which allowed the OP about 0.02352 seconds to react.

I remember when i was on the way to the Hampshire meet a couple of months ago, there was a mountain bike in the middle of lane 3 and it came up so quickly - and that was a stationary object! If i had just glanced down to my radio a moment before, i wouldn't have had time to react.

The guy in the audi? well he got out and had a cigarette, I remember is so clearly.

Eventually it all went to court, I got compensation about 24 months later, he was banned and fined. Nothing more!

Not sure i could have contained myself if i had been there. Although having said that, he was probably in utter shock.

OP, this might be an odd question, but what are your feeling towards the moron who hit you? You must have seen him in court, what was he like?

Isn't it akin to road blindness. You reach a state not dissimilar to being in a light hypnotic trance so the big red flag waving in the back of your mind that there really is a car going the wrong way in your lane just refuses to register as reality since it's so clearly wrong.

I think it's one of the most terrifying situations to find yourself in. You see a good few examples of it when they show the videos of motorway crashes and around 20 seconds after the initial incident someone then drives full pelt into the crashed vehicles and very rarely brakes at anything like a distance that would indicate they were aware of what was happening in front of them. I'm sure someone with more detailed knowledge of this will be along to explain it better than I, eventually.
Stupid brain.

Glad you and yours got out of that dude.

Had some silly British woman drive towards me on my side of the road on Sunday, round a corner over a crest.
I noticed it instantly and eventually she realised too, swerving back on her side.

It was ****ing scary. I had to compose myself after I came to a stop.

I did a U-turn and chased after her.
She claims she was 'lost', dozy cow
Her teenage daughter was in the front too, surely she must have noticed that something was wrong, what with all the street furniture on the other side of the road?

Unfortunately it's not a rare occurrence. People with RHD cars don't always remember to drive on the right when abroad :(

Well done, chased them safely did you:rolleyes:
The road was empty, probably why she was on the wrong side of the road in the first place.

I was in shock, my hands were shaking. It's a ****ing scary situation Mr keyboard warrior.
Perhaps chase was the wrong word as I just turned around and booted it after her. She was only a few hundred metres down the road

Keyboard warrior? I think not, I'd say you were wrong in person too.

All the street signs facing her were on the opposite side of the road, surely this would hint at her being on the wrong side of the road..

That's your opinion and you're perfectly entitled to it.
However, I wanted to know what the hell she was doing and to make sure that she wouldn't do it again.
Clearly you haven't had someone drive at you on the wrong side of the road. It isn't a pleasant experience. There are many what ifs..

As I said above, it's not uncommon and serious accidents occur as a result.
I didn't abuse her, I just asked her politely and calmly to keep right in future.
Hopefully she'll remember next time she 'gets lost'..

Jesus your all are very lucky. That astra definately did well to protect you all especially at 80mph.

Get well mate and dont let it put you off driving.
