"Pillars of Eternity: RPG funded by Kickstarter"

Just thought I'd bring this to everyone's attention:

http://kotaku.com/pillars-of-eternity-characters-crippled-by-ridiculous-i-1694367618

Luckily I have been swapping armour by means of drag and drop (I think!)

The devs know about the problem and they're trying to apply a retroactive patch so it doesn't screw up your saved game, for now you can reverse the issue by dismissing all of your party members and then recruiting them (at your stronghold or tavern I think) But it doesn't work for your PC.

Are you stringer on Steam? If so thanks for the heads up.

It would appear too that I've be dragging and dropping, after thinking about it I hadn't realised you could double-click ... thankfully!

Haha yes that's me, I thought that was you by the username but never asked. Glad you got my message in time.

I too have been dragging I am pretty sure, 21 hours in so I don't really want to start again!

After reading reviews and comments here, I'm kicking myself for missing the Kickstarter way back when....

Will buy tonight, goodbye social life.....

Yes it's great. I like Divinity a lot but this is a step above, well worth your pennies and time.

Great game, but the bugs are coming thick and fast.

Lost a lot of stats from my character due to the double click bug.
My "Main Keep" just vanished at some random point and now I have to rebuild it.
I constantly have a "1" next to my keep actions.
Had a couple of actions that just disappear when I click the assign button.
All my hirelings are "Currently Unpaid" even though they all got paid already.

I'm just thinking how many other bugs are there that I don't know about and how many might stop me finishing the game. I'm 34 hours in, but I think I'm just going to wait for a patch and possibly restart when it comes out, as I don't want to get 60 hours in then realise I can't finish the game.

Playing it a bit more, the whole Stronghold thing is rubbish...It is even worse than the one in DA:I!
The game would actually be much better without it

I love it too, but personally I think it is a step down(ever so slightly). At least Divinity evolved some of the mechanics of the older games, with stealth, party management, interactive conversations etc. Some really interesting new ides in there.

You're right, what I probably should have said is for me in terms of enjoyment and style (nostalgia) it's a step above.

I don't think PoE does anything 'new' per se, but then I'm not sure it was intended to?

Wait until you get the one where your pet disappears. I am 9 hours in and cannot continue as it is missing from all my saves and I cannot leave an area as my party is incomplete...

If anyone is playing a sneaky character(I always do!) I recommend soloing Raedric's Keep. I managed to sneak all the way through without being seen and without getting in to a fight. It was epic!

That's a point - I find combat a bit busy, lots of micro, but I understand that to be D&D mechanics?

Yeah you need to pause every few seconds. Jury's out on whether this or just a straight up turn-based system like Divinity is better. Personally, I'd go with real-time pause-based most times.... Of course, it depends on how well it is done! I think this is a massive improvement over older IE games in terms of combat. Just small tweaks, but they all work imo. I'm still not in love with this kind of combat, but it is pretty good. As many have been complaining about on the forums though, pathfinding is atrocious.

Been playing around with stealth a bit more and it works very well sometimes but is hampered in others. It would be much better if you could dismiss followers at any time, or tell them to stay put, so I could just go off and sneak around like in Divinity(really was well done in that). A few times I have been sneaking and it has all been for nothing because I can't change area without the whole parry. A bit more flexibility would work wonders!

Also, a big thumbs up for the incredibly intuitive UI....and I don't find myself thinking that too often nowadays!

The narrative brings back pleasant Baldur's Gate memories, the RPG elements are nicely done, I even enjoy the text based 'minigames'. I agree with Pighardia that the combat feels a bit lackluster, they didn't take any risks with it, it feels exactly like Neverwinter Nights 2. Divinity's combat was a breath of fresh air, using your skills in combination with the environment was very satisfying, not to mention mandatory if you played on hard.

Overall, I'm very much enjoying it, it's definitely a worthy purchase.

Have you heard about the bug? Double clicking on items in your inv to equip them wipes all your bonus stats... permanently.

There seems to be some luck with people taking items back off. Devs are trying to find a solution that will get all our stats back without having to start again, or if you are lucky enough you can reload an old save before you double clicked any items.
