Plane Spotters / Flight Radar Thread

How did this happen very close to disaster
There was a Ryan Air one a while back at a German airport. They often race to the destination and fight for shorter/favourite runways. They left the computer programmed to the wrong runaway and almost binned it. Maybe a similar thing.

You mustn't fly enough. I've had the pilot countless times explain how they've agreed a short cut or alternative runway with less taxi time.
You can save the most amount of time on the ground with as you said something like a runway change, once you are in the air it’s really difficult to save time, any shortcuts in the air usually don’t really make a huge difference. This is why with LCC you will see them taxi very fast or take off at intersections.

Moved my PIHut Flight Radar aerial to the roof, whilst we had the scaffolding up for the solar install. Finally got it conected up to the Raspberry Pi at the weekend. Happy with the range now - Ireland / Northern France.

I'm 90% sure a V-22 Osprey has just flown over my house. It was very low. Do these operate in the UK? Heard it coming for a brief moment then the silhouette against the sunset was quite unique, the props were definitely outboard on the wings. Was also going at a fair rate.

Nothing on flight radar, but then I wouldn't have expected so for something like that.

Yes, the yanks fly them out of Mildenhall. Very distinct, VERY loud.

Yeah they can be seen around Lakenheath and Mildenhall.
They do show up now and then on radar as do the Apache 64E a little further South.

Generally I've found Flightradar24 doesn't show military flights but you often have better luck on adsb Exchange. There's even a filter on the map, the U button at the top.

Ooh, that's tracked it just about. Thank you. I get the odd noisy aircraft fly over at speed and never seem to be able figure out what it was. That may track them.

Flew over the birthplace of the Jet Engine (Barnoldswick).

I was reading to my boys (6&3) and we all jumped off the bed to look out the window. They were buzzing.

Not sure what this was doing off the coast in Italy in the middle of the night:

There are a couple of airbases in that region the MQ-4 and RQ-4 are based at, they'll often fly a holding pattern just off either Sicily or Crete at the start or end of missions depending on whatever is going on - they are being intensively used in relation to both the Ukraine and Israeli conflicts out of there.

Been night flights like these of tankers off of the UK recently, with one showing up briefly for me of an F35 or F22 (cannot remember exactly) and Typhons flying into the North sea.

Edit: Just noticed it was a drone.
