Planetside finally gets a server merge!

Downloads the Station launcher, just log in and it'll download everything through the patcher, though signing in will start the free time.
Since I won't be able to play until next weekend, but I don't have PS installed, I made a new station account with my spam email, you get a 14 day trial which I've just logged in with to patch it all up.

Now, who's up for a huge cyssor 3 way bridge fight?
 
Will definitely be going back to the Blood Legion once the servers have merged, even if it's only for the trial...

Hopefully i can find my BR25 CR4 character again, last time i resubbed he'd gone :o

Used to play this back in 2003! Good memories I must say. I used to pilot the galaxy about and drop people down into the combat. I always remember one time though there was an epic battle (hundreds vs hundreds) for a base and after hours of this it basically came down to me, alone, in a room defending some switch or whatever it was against the hordes of the enemy team who had conquered the base and beat our side. So funny. They just stormed in, I fired a few shots, and that was that.

Please tell me the devs have rebalanced the Lasher by now ? They 'tweaked' it about 9months ago and it was slightly overpowered when used properly. It was still unchanged when I stopped playing about 3months ago iirc.
 
The orbs do seem to move faster, maybe it's just the animation they changed. It's safe to say I suck, I haven't played an FPS game since I quit PS properly, which was just after BR25 came out. Now I'm told it goes up to BR40?! :/ Argh.

Is everyone able to access the PS forums? I'm not and it makes me a bit of a sad bunny.
 
Wow finally, it's taken them long enough to actually do this after it was first announced. I'll be on with my werner character (called 'LinkZ' surprisingly) Will have to see if the 45 days have been added to my account too.
 
Man, I have forgotten sooo much about how to play this game :)

Some nice changes to combat engineering, although I need to find a quiet spot and experiment. Jumped straight into a huge base defense on Cereyshn(?) last night, was just as chaotic as I remembered.

It't great to see that people still don't check the top level of a tower before starting to hack it though :D

Good times :D loved Planetside, used to love driving the deliverer before they nerfed the physics engine.

Reckon there will ever be a Planetside 2? Surely the market is there for an MMOFPS on a new engine?

Hi Vader - long time no speak!

SOE have pretty much left planetside to die and its a real shame as there is a massive gap for MMOFPS game which could make sony a fair bit of the green!!

Don't say that, if there's going to be a new MMOFPS I would want anyone but SOE to make it!

Has the email gone out to all previous subscribers? Loved original Planetside but each time i've gone back there have been less and less people about.
 
I’ve been on recently on a Sunday and I’ve been waiting to get onto Cyssor for a poplock...

Be warned some people have decided to use hacks/cheats now which is a bit annoying - not a lot thankfully!

What side was you on ? I have a crap memory but i tend to remember the more annoying TR people like Jeffbeefjaw, Someone182 lol forgot his name now, and Stellios. Probably all mozzie pilots that would kill me from clip range while i was "infantry'ing" about. That was in my day and a guy called AZK that spent a lot of time hot dropping on towers to get cheesey kills, mind you that seemed to be a tactic widely used... i never got into it personally.

Jeez it was so long ago Had a lot of respect for the players in that game especially the late night ones where it was a more balanced 30 vs 30 kinda game.

But god i loved a pop locked Solsar or Cyssor sniping was my love i might have to dload it and see if i have 45 days. I lost my old CR5 account as i sold it as part of a SWG jedi account (doh) but im sure i made a new one and got it to a decent fighting level.

haha i remember AZK - guarantee there'd be a tower with some activity on a continent somewhere and it would be him mossie dropping and tower whoring. i may be misty eyed with nostalgia but planetside has to be one of my favourite games of all time, i still haven't played a game where you get the same buzz. shame the biffers came along and everyone left.
 
Hmmm, i don't know whether to install PS again. This was the game that got me into PC gaming around 5 years ago. Think i should keep my good memories of, what was once, a great game.
