Players who should be good, but aren't...

Yep robbie fowler and jamie redknap, both in were good.

I take issue with murphy and henchoz, our def was a total mess without him earlier in the season, and danny give us the little creativity we have.

Owen i agree, i dunno if its the injuries or what, but he just aint got the explosive speed anymore, but i remember david hirst eons ago being the same, did loads for a few seasons got injured and never was the same.

but olot of the player in the post above, blanc was a class defender, deffo and tbh i dont think j.cole has done anything ever, some brilliance then has drifted away, i just hope rooney dont go the same way.it will be good if west ham go down, cole, carrick and co will hopefully go to better clubs and then do the biz.

I don't think it's fair to name Keown, Radebe OR Bridges TBH, they've not played for ages through injury/age.

Thats the reason we left out Sheringham (he's a worse player now because he's old, not because he's just lost it).

I don't believe for a second that Taibi had long enough, and he aint in the Prem any more so can hardly be commented on.

Batty aint being picked so he can't be commented on, he was class last season. Nyarko has also left the Prem iirc so he cannot be commented on, Carrick has been playing quite well this season IMO. It's just that no-one else in a West Ham shirt has...

fair enough gilly dont agree with you about the players but you didnt mention anywhere that it had to be players in the prem this season.

If so I'll start again LOL

Ashley Cole wtf have u put him on the list, the player is class and has been arsenal's most consistant player of season, he puts in good performances nearly every match dude i dunno why u got him on the list.

sorry gilly, busy boy tonight and just had to defend my boys

Nick Barmby - a few years ago if you would have posted this i would have said you were wrong for putting him in here, as he used to be very good. however hes lost it now

Kevin Phillips - i agree and disagree here, i think he would be excellent in a team like Arsenal/Utd, i just think he struggles for good service at sunderland

as for wayne rooney...i dont think he will be a player teams can do without...hes good but has a lot to learn :)

were but arent no more:

Robbie Keane
Dudek (it pains me to say that, but his confidence is completely gone now and i dont think he will pick it up, Poland have called up 4 goalkeepers for training before the Hungry game because they are warey over dudek)

Defending your team aint a problem. but why can't you pass comment on any other players?

Cole might try hard, but in our opinion he just aint that good

Gotta agree with gilly on cole, attacking wise he is excellent, crossing aint that good but he gets forward and is very quick, defensively imo he is very poor, basically because his posistional sense is poor, he gets caught out too much outta position and he has to make rash decisions etc he has done that a few times for england.

I hope dudek recovers btw, everybody blamed hime for our slump but it was the whole team and it was unfair for folks to blame him.

Somebody mentioned beckham too, i think the last 2 seasona he has done more for england the manc, but since his injury he has come back and played well, and his finishing seems o have improved, tbh i think becks is a lot like owen, they really can only do 2 things on the pitch, owen pace and finishing, beckam crossing and free kicks, but when they are on form they world class at what they do.

his confidence has been totally battered..especially with all the rumours of houiller (cant spell it) admitting that he would let him go etc...hes a class goalkeeper and made a few mistakes. but when a goalie makes a mistake its always remembered :/

u havent seen him much for arsenal then, his defending has been solid and his bad tackles are not attempts to hurt people but rather mis-timed. He has made a number of goal line clearences. Even when arsenal as a team have looked poor cole has put in good performances. Watching highlights does him no justice i watch the match live or listen on the radio every week and i cant remember a match where he has given a poor performance

I never rated Dudek above Westerweld. But he came in and did OK. To prove himself he's going to have to get through his slump though.

the reason i defend dudek so highly is because ive followed the polish NT...a lot of people criticise him for only doing well because of a good defence, but if anyone watched the WC (dudek was poor) then you would have seen how bad our defence was...in the qualifying we did struggle despite being the first european team to qualify, and if you look at our group we shouldnt have. if it wasnt for dudek and olisadebe we never would have. dudek also had a great career at feyenord...

LOL, you cannot include Teddy in the never was any good, that is just being blind & he is still a decent player just in a slump & too old now.

Redknapp....erm he is still quality, no questions asked.

From the original lists I would remove:

Believed to be good but aren't and never were

Kieron Dyer
Danny Murphy
Kevin Phillips
Stephane Henchoz

None of those should be there imo, each good enough at their jobs some of whom better than others & worthy of being called good.

Stephen Gerrard
David beckham
Paul Scholes
Rio Ferdinand
Harry Kewell
Roy Keane
Lee Bowyer
John Arne Riise
Juan Sebastian Veron

Don't agree with any of these :) Veron for instance is still a class above many other midfielders, Riise is a decent player just doesn't get played enough, Bowyer's heart aint in Leeds, but still makes decent plays. Keane, Beckham & Ferdinand have been injured recently but all play well, they may not be up to their peaks but would still walk onto many teams on current form (Keane on past form but that is coz he just got back). Gerrard has been the sole hope for Liverpool for goal chances from midfield of late showing he is still a good player. Kewell has been scoring so is doing his job.

Players that teams couldn't do without:

Agreed :)
