What was it you didn't like? I imagine it can be quite daunting and difficult to get into now as a solo player, given there's a lot of damn good players on there now. The more it's a very simplistic game it's quite unforgiving with a bit of steep learning curve. You gotta learn quick or you'll die a lot!
Did you try duos or squads?
 
On my pc about an hour, friends pc just over an hour of that, I only got to play solo but may of just been my games but I didn't really see any one maybe few people? Servers were always full, so I felt I spent chunk of time bored.

The premise of it etc I do like the game in action just didn't click for me. Was first time playing this sort of game too e.g. battle royal style

Ahhh, you really needed to try duos/squads. It can be quite boring at the start while you gear up, especially if you've jumped far enough away to avoid other players initially.
 
I've just bought this today, and it't almost unplayable on my old PC :( i7-950, 6GB RAM (triple channel), GTX680 lightning 2GB (IIRC). My other PC (2500K / 8GB RAM / R9 280) fares better.

*edit* - 6GB is quoted as min spec RAM.

Would switching the current 6GB RAM kit (cmp6gx3m3a1600c7) for this 12GB kit (CMZ12GX3M3A1600C9 - not quite the same model line) put a bit of spring back in its step? Or would it just be chucking money away?

I was playing with a 670 that was OK at low settings. However, my CPU is a bit newer and significantly overclocked.

Minstadave's advice is on point.
 
2nd solo win this week. Played it really well. 5 kills, knew where the last 3 people were in the circle at the end. Knew one guy was in the building and had to come out so as soon as the door opened he was mowed down, and the last guy was round the side of the building so just rushed him on full auto.

Had a strange moment when I made the circle (about 25 left) was just boosting/healing back up a touch and a guy appeared out of the circle behind me. He must have seen me as he was literally 5 yards away from me, he stopped 10 yards in front of me to med up so safe to say he didn't last long! No idea how he didn't see me as he literally brush my shoulder on the way past me!

If he was on low low health he may have been more focused on getting safe than watching for enemies. I've been there and done that! Ran out of the blue straight into prone position right at some dudes feet!!
