PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS - Thread

They've got my patience :) They're so active on any issues and address the community often, plus it is early access which so many people seem to forget.

EDIT: There were rumours of a stat wipe on 1st June...has there been any official announcement on this?

good to see them acknowledging issues and letting the community know what's in the pipeline

So true hands down one of the best devs around. PUBG has been what Early access should be all about.

PLAYERUNKNOWN (@BattleRoyaleMod)
Good news everyone! 1st person servers are coming to @PUBATTLEGROUNDS in our next monthly update! #MakeHardcoreGreatAgain
We will bring 1st person only to EU/NA SOLO & DUO games first, and once we have polished the system, we will expand to other regions.
:D :D

Not sure it does, in fact, quite a few games i done a test in, the higher memory speed was actually 1fps slower because of latency, memory speed usually has near zero effect on games, a lot of that video results were almost the same fps, a few had big margins, but not sure if its down to the memory myself.

I wounder if the memory speed matters most when the CPU is under more demanding situations? In the video above the higher frame rate comes from scenes that have much higher calculations.

don't know what video you were watching but it was the same throughout the whole video maybe 2 fps faster at points. and 1 specific point where it was quite a bit faster but that could have been due to anything. at some points the slower ram was even faster which goes to show you how it doesn't prove anything

Try watching again :p try from 2min onwards
Even some part where the fps takes a hit and the faster ram just continues on.

It also seems the more demanding the area the better chance the fps will be for example the lobby area loads players on screen.

I know this game needs a lot more optimisation, but what card will run this to a good standard as my 390 is struggling badly? Got everything on low with full draw distance to keep my FPS at a decent rate.

CPU is a 4790 which is cruising.

What resolution? At 1080p you should easy keep way above 60fps
My last GPU R9290 was perfectly fine at 1080p
1440p was a struggle though

you don't need a gtx 1080 for 1080p, i got 110 fps with a 1060 3gb and that is with pretty decent settings too. you do need it for 1440p however if you want high fps (120hz) but a 1070 will do 1440p @ 60hz fine.

also you don't need 8 threads for smooth play. i run a i7600k which is 4 threads and it's stock too not bothered clocking as i don't need to. 7600k is now available for less than £200 brand new. i wouldnt' bother spending £350 which is nearly double on an i7 to get a 5% boost at best.

the game runs poo on any system compared to other games. the game basically has zero optimisation.

Did you not play this game in early stages? Lag town got its name from 20fps being the norm lol the game has had loads of optimization its just not complete yet.

Lag town now really isn't a lag town RX vega 1440p I stay very close to 100fps with some dips onto 60s depending where I am.

they still have a long way to go. 20fps? must have had just been released to get some cash in if it was that bad.

i used ultra settings. then i turned a few things to low and guess what i got zero boost in fps in fact they went down. it's stupid how some settings have zero effect on fps going from ultra to low or the other way. i let GE pick the optimal settings then i turn some of them down to give me a competitive edge. effects just put more stuff on your screen to detract your attention. same for ultra foliage. view distance seems to have zero effect on FPS from low to ultra. i wouldn't say it's optimised at all.

The reason you don't see any difference from view distance is because your Cpu is more than enough. That setting is very Cpu
Shadows, and resolution are the biggest performance hitters.

I not saying it's perfect far from it all I saying it's night and day from how it released.
You said it has had no optimizations all I doing is correcting you :p
Next patch shadows and server optimisation.

The other settings, foliage etc are designed to not give an advantage over someone playing very low so the performance hit is very little.
Matter of a fact a lot of the settings have very little performance hit.
Resolution, screen scale and shadows are the big ones and also have the biggest impact on image quality.

it's not just view distance. i turned down 3 settings from ultra to low/very low all at the same time and no change to fps.

now you mention it shadows is the one that eats up fps as does effects. post processing seems to make the game blurry no idea why anyone would have that on ultra. most of them don't have any hit on fps though going from 1 extreme to the other. which wouldn't happen if it was optimised unless everything is CPU dependent.

That doesn't make sense, if a graphics setting shadow for example has little performance hit going from ultra to low that means the game is very optimised.
Graphics settings are only one part of the story with this game and are by no means the biggest issue.
a lot of the performance issues people have is actually from the server.
We know this because at times within a squad each one of us all have had the same frame rate drop and server desync.

Having a game where all the graphics settings perform very well across the range is actually very good for low end to high end users.

Edit
Shadows is a bad example because that setting is quite demanding and does effect image quality a lot.
Foliage would have been a better choice.

I read textures were stuck on ultra could explain the shortdraw if your gpu doesn't have the required ram (whatever that is).

RX VEGA 64 8GB Vram it isn't textures.. Think they is an issue with Draw distance not rendering correctly noticing a lot of popins.. Also the AA is now horrible anything above Very low is a blur mess this isn't the case on the stable build were i run ultra AA. Switching AA to very low makes the game not blurred but ugly.

PUBG is now very well optimised, long gone are the days people can say this is unoptimised. First time I have fully monitored the game for a while now and 17 mins of gameplay here GPU was 9/10 pegged at 99%
