PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS - Thread

I do have to agree unfortunately, it seems a vast amount of the Counter Strike cheaters come out of China/Russia.

Imagine it was when they introduced skins and crates as well. I believe there's some laws in China regarding people not being able to invest/spend money outside of the country, meaning a lot of people use Steam/Game items which causes a bit of a loop of people hacking to get the crates quicker and so on...

And Russia is just, well, Russia.
Yep, that along with the owners (Tencent?) allowing the famous Chinese streamers to blatantly cheat and do nothing about it, I remember the moment I quit and never went back was when I got destroyed from across tha map by a player for the umpteenth time and decided there and then to uninstall for good realy frustrating with this kind of game where you invest a lot of time to play the round, the good times were great though, up there with when I discovered CS beta.

As a side note - I now play Valorant, the cheating is very minimal or they hide it well, only seen 1 blatant cheater in a couple of years and he got banned promptly, strange how it's not very popular on here as I find it better than CS.

Yeah if my memory serves me correctly, the original developer sold the game to Tencent for an absolute huge amount?

Turned into micro transaction hell from then on out.

Don't get me started on CS, it's the "best" game ever made and I love it, but the fact the Valve refuse to put a proper anti-cheat into it ruins it, I haven't played it since November because of this. I don't mind when players are better than me and I lose, but when most games have someone who makes you question if they are cheating or smurfing, it ruins what could be the greatest game ever made.

Valorant for me, it's ok, the abilities ruin it a bit for my tastes and the cartoony style just doesn't do it for me sadly :(

Does make you wonder if games will start doing Geoblocking, seems most online games are ruined by cheaters

I still bloody love PUBG. Great combination of awesome gunplay and time enough to chill and socialise.

Same but only in ranked mode. No Respawning/gulag is just what made PUBG special for me and made not dying important for the first time since Counterstrike. Spent many years in between, mainly on battlefield and similar.

I'd like another modern multiplayer FPS game for when PUBG feels a little stale but cant find one that hits the spot. Seeing how the randomers play when they join our squad seems me and my mates are certainly in the minority with how we play the game. Still land in quieter locations and then take on fights we feel we have the advantage until the later zones obviously.

It feels like maybe there are some more people returning or new players atm, maybe less hackers but I don't see many blatant cheaters that this season I'm just about holding on to a 15% win rate which is higher than usual

I think most of the changes since I been gone are positive as well.

But the moaning first:

I don't like Rondo at all, just plays mostly terrible, either drop loot then driving simulator for 10 minutes to get into an already overcrowded zone, or initial fight, same **** in the blue.

Of the 10-15 or so games so far I have had one single good game on it, and that was with randoms oddly.

I don't like the sandstorm on Mirimar.

And this isn't new to me but bring back the old Vikendi, the new one is an absolute abomination. We played a game, phase 5 I think the storm thing came, we were middle of zone, right on top of us, couldn't see ****. We got knocked through it, first instinct is like, these guys are cheating, watched the deathcam, and because they were on the edge of it, they could see us pretty clearly, but not the other way around. Wtf PUBG, sort that **** out.

Or just put the far superior OG Vikendi back.

Good changes:

They got rid of drones, the spotting binoculars, and maybe the tactical pack? (I've not seen them anyway) and made thermal scopes on Vikendi very rare.

I was never a fan of any of this stuff, always thought of them as gimics and potentially cheesy if used properly.

We would land in Ripton, grab a drone and send them up to those windows to grab keys, 10 minutes later whole team of 4 rolling out with level 3 gear, MK14's etc, so broken.

Druganov is interesting. I almost exclusively use bolt guns for the one shot knock, and if I know the opponent (s) have DMRs I'll take slightly more risks peeking, but the one shot headshot within 100m has caught me out a few times, I'm going to need to try to adapt.

Blue chips ...... I'm 50/50 on this, still not really decided if I'm a fan.

.......and before you say it, yes I know you can play ranked for the purer version, and in a lot of ways it's better because of that, but it's real sweaty players and we can usually chicken dinner say every third game on regular, ranked is just stress.

@BUDFORCE I'd agree with most of the moaning :D

I don't like either of the storms, but we rarely play Miramir tbh. Sometimes it has helped us (positioning / cover) on Vikendi, but mostly it's a PITA and lasts far too long. Apart from that, I'm okay with new Vikendi, although I think the previous version was far better. Rondo, I don't know what is going on with the shifts on that map, and due to that it's vehicle management simulator

Happy they removed the tactical gear, drone meta was so boring. I do think the drone should be a rare world spawn (& taking up a weapon slot) for Deston though, to access the key rooms

Blue chips I'm 100% for, think it's a good change and at least gives a chance to get back into the fight in the same game

Dunno if anyone can help got a wierd issue since the new patch.

As I boot PUBG into the lobby my PC just shuts down completely and re-starts. It's done it about 5 times in a row now, wierd thing is, if I can get it to boot and not restart my PC, after that it'll work fine for hours.

It kept popping up with a thing about validating the files, which I have done many times, I have also completely uninstalled and re-installed the game and if anything it seems to be getting worse.

Any ideas?

In agreement with most of that.

This is my hierarchy of the maps:

1. Erangel - the classic and has only got better
2. Love Miramar too (hate the storms).
3. Rondo - love the new map, there are so many memorable parts to it and I feel like I know the map so much better than some others which can be largely forgettable and dull (looking at you Taego). Needs more cars though.
4. Deston, very memorable again and some nice varied landscapes and features.
5. Sanhok - not a fan of this version, preferred the one where they revised it to make the river better and the north west island hill better. Foliage looked better, but had a load of crybabies whinging to the devs so all the positive progress got reverted :(
6. Karakin - not a huge fan of the small maps, but this one is by far the best.
7. Taego - bit bland and featureless. Lots of areas are just either dull and open or full of trees.
8. Vikendi - boring and bland - the old Vikendi was 100x better and would be number 3 on my list if they reverted, snowstorm are trash.
9. Paramo - trash, delete.
10. Haven - trash, delete.
11. TDM mode, pointless, just delete.

I had a few games yesterday for the first time in bloody ages. Quite enjoyed it actually, still nothing really like it.
still best fps game period cliffy. just shame they ruined maps like vikendi. i play it still now and then. miss people like physical shooting me in back when he panics at end :D

@physichull

Pretty much with you on your list although I'd swap the top 2 as a minor adjustment.... But I have an exception to Rondo... I'm not enjoying it a all.

I'm not sure the direction they are taking with the in game purchases and NPC guards either, admittedly it's not a game breaking as I thought it would be when I read about it, but it's still petty weird.

I sort of fixed my crashing issue, maybe......

Instead of trying to fire up PUBG straight away as my PC boots into windows, I find it I give it a minute or two idling in Windows before launching the game, it seems to be ok.

Now, I can only conclude two things from this either:

- Something in the background doesnt get a chance to property initialise, battleye or some windows net function etc

- There was actually an issue with PUBG, that they have now fixed and kept the whole thing quiet

I did make a post on the PUBG reddit which needed moderator approval, which oddly never got approved, it didnt get denied either... hmmmmmm which makes me wonder about the second theory....

Anyway I am just pleased its working.

I also need to get a new mouse, my razor wired mouse is giving false scrollwheel inputs which so has hasnt got me killed, but it will at some point.

I also fancy getting a wireless mouse for convenience and I hear there is no latency anymore.

I'm having crashing issues which are driving me mad, I've uninstalled PUBG and reinstalled it, still crashing....

Updated Geforce Drivers for GPU, Still crashing

Verified files for PUBG, Still crashing

Any ideas bud?
