playing GRAW 2 with no physx card, but with effects!

Thats cool, so I was probably the first person in the world to unlock that level without having the physx card. Thats awesome, hmm...ill have to figure out why I cant go on, I die directly.

Are the physics effect set on normal or high/extreme on your?

at normal it is just about playable, but if i use the hack to enable extreme it becomes unplayable

congrats

Ok, for those of you who die, I think it has to do with framerate. Setting the video settings to lowest possible allowed me to play the ageia island.

I also have good news, I succeeded in enabling the Ageia Island effects in the normal campaign missions, bad news is thats its a major work to do so as you have to change all the files to be loaded. Ill try to make some mod that will allow you to play the missions with these additional effects, but it might take some time.

Get the changed files, put them in a rar and upload them somewhere?

People could then download, install over old files and use :)

I will, however there are some things that need to be fixed first as the game crashes after a few minutes, and the ai is apparently not compatible with the ageia physx effects (apparently it loads custom sounds, and the animations are different when they fall from the towers)

Im working on it right now though, so it should be up soon, however I have a life too, and I hope you are aware of that ;)

I am also working on a custom mission that looks like the first mission for 007 Goldeneye N64 (the dam mission)

Hey, Umm you guys unlocked Ageia Island on XP. How about Vista? I realy feel left out. I mean I did a whole search on my pc for these files even in appdata. So it would be nice if you guys can share if you unlocked it for vista.

how anybody could defend this lame duck i don't know, if PPU cards were going to work they couldn't have had a worse start.

pretty obvious statement i know but in this industry you don't get an abundance of time, they had their chance, gamers think it's a ripoff and it looks like game developers don't care much neither. it's been out how long now and it's still just the GRAW games which can use it ....it's a total joke.

i admire you're determination to stick with ageia pottsey but i think it's got a spot in the tech cemetary next to betamax.

If that was true Nvidia would be dead and ATI not much better. Just look how badly the first Nvidia card did. There is still time to fix the problems.

What Ageia need to do is get a ton of game support at least 50 more games out if not 100 and some decent triple AAA games. Then and only then realise the PCI-Express card with a well planed out marketing strategy which includes guidelines for reviews on how to do fair benchmarking.

If done correctly this could pick up interest in the PPU again.

What I bet Ageia do is bring out the PCI-Express without the game support and we have a repeat of the first PPU.

I am all for the technology and idea of PPU’s but the way its been handily couldn’t have been much worse.

EDIT: When doing the unlock do you get all the extra effects throughout the game like cloth and stuff? What’s the CPU performance like with the cloth?

"it's been out how long now and it's still just the GRAW games which can use it ...."
You mean GRAW and the 50+ other programs.

I really don't know why people give pottsey such a hard time. He isn't trying to twist your arm up your back and make you buy it. He is merely giving answers to questions and doubts that people put up.

Maybe true, but at least the processors will give an improvement, in each and every single game, and in November there'll be 5-10% more efficient processors, with higher clock speeds are more cores than right now, would like to see Aegia beat that.
They don't have to try as they beat the cpu at physics already do & thats its purpose & nothing else.

Isn't the point in having one of these cards for taking the strain off the cpu/gpu so they can do greater and bigger things ? :/

Some people are missing this point

Its not a CPU vrs PPU competition, these cards work together to make the overall gaming experience more enjoyable.

It takes the strain from the cpu for physics only & does not help out the gpu & in some cases add strain to the gpu for the added gfx on-screen as the PPU does not help out on the gfx render only the physical movement of allot more objects & their interactive attributes.

who mentioned anything about rendering, oh and im sorry for adding in the gpu part... :/

it all works together for a more enjoyable gaming experience, doesn't it ?

Can I play devils advocate for a min :)
In a roundabout way it can help the GPU. By taking strain off the CPU the CPU is free to provide data to the GPU faster. Providing more data to the GPU faster means it can get on with its job so your FPS goes up. Otherwise your GPU is sitting there waiting for the CPU. Its like when you have a slow CPU and upgrade the 3dcard your FPS don’t increase as the CPU cannot provide enough data to use the extra power of the.

If your in a CPU limited game or program then the GPU is sitting there waiting for the CPU so your not get best performance out your GPU. If its not CPU limited the GPU is running at full speed. Its all about bottlenecks and speeding up the slowest area.
