Playing in front of other people

Four years? Is that all?

Git.

Interesting discussion guys, I dont get a chance to see much local live music (there is no scene whatsoever for that round here) but Guthrie Govan lives locally and plays weekly at a bar in town so I checked him out a couple of months back. He was jamming with a Sax player and they were superb, he was playing some - what I presume to be - standards, noodling all over the shop, and some **** walks in, and then 20 minutes later demanding that he plays "some real music, like Madness".

I mean fair enough, I like Madness, but I was gobsmacked - I just wanted to go over to the Stella-drinking-**** and punch him in the balls! He didn't have a clue about what he was watching.

How do you get over the 'my hands have gone to **** again' thing when people ask you to play?

get "Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny" and watch the Gig Simulator scene..... The D can show you the ways of Rock !! :p

I'm one of dmpooles audience and I go to see his band quite often. I can tell you for fact that he hasn't got one arrogant bone in his body and he spends all night talking to his audience and his wife is normally sitting in the corner. He thanks every one of us because I honestly feel he doesn't understand why his band is so popular. dead easy really because they are excellent. Its also amazing that when he goes to watch other bands they approach him and seek him out. I'd love to have that respect. Sorry Neon but you are a silly young boy, to tell someone with that much experience that it doesn't cut it for you is downright pathetic. With that attitude you hopefully won't get very far. i also agree entirely that most of the audience hasn't got a clue what they're listening to. Week after week I go to watch bands and some of them are terrible but like Jackgnic says they aren't bothered about musicianship. last week I watched a band and the singer didn't sing one song in key but someone turned round and said what a brilliant singer he was. I aked other people I knew in there what they thought of him and out of about ten people only one other person said he was out of tune.
