Playing music and neighbours

and dubstep IS crap. if i didn't believe that to be the truth i wouldn't hold it to be my opinion. i can assert said opinion if i want, just as you can assert yours. besides, it's pretty obvious that when people say something is crap they are voicing an opinion, and it's unreasonable to expect everyone to write "in my opinion" before every statement they make.

I guess that depends on whether you're saying "I don't like/understand it" or "I think it's crap". The first is perfectly understandable - I don't particularly like or understand "urban" music, but at the same time, I can appreciate the musical quality and talent of some of the artists (for example Beyonce has an absolutely stunning voice).

did you read his post? it's blatant that he doesn't give a crap about other people. the music was evidently loud enough that the neighbours could hear it and were kept awake by it - through a wall. but he's going to play it anyway because he doesn't care. how are we retarded for pointing this out??

Did you?

He said he lives in a ground floor flat converted from a house which means the floor will have next to zero sound insulation. They were complaining about the TV.

ok, so the flat isn't an ideal situation. maybe he should have considered that before moving in. and now that he's there, he expects to do whatever he wants and not compromise at all with his neighbours. that's what is commonly called "being a ****"

No but then he might not have known since he was there before the tenants upstairs and the previous tenants may not have complained or were silent themselves, if there were any in the first place.

So that would make it ok for the OP to act the way he is?

*EDIT*

Infact looks like the OP has left the thread never to return. Just like all the others.

You can't just tip toe around your own place being silent as possible. If I was the OP I'd be looking to move elsewhere or speak to the landlord about installing some padding under the floors.

Why do you keep looking at extremes?

Party.........

General every day stuff.......

Nobody is saying he should be silent. But having respect for your neighbours you would think would just happen.

Have you seen the OP's post to see he just dont care about them?

I agree completely, which is the point I was trying to make, so I guess you agree with me too :p

The OP may have been playing his music at a reasonable level - in this case it's quite probable that he wasn't, considering the circumstances, but a lot of posts in this thread seem to be of the very black & white view that if your neighbour can hear any noise then it's excessive and you're antisocial, when really it isn't that simple.

Quoted from a website/forum regarding this issue:

"It can be difficult to know what types of noise constitute a nuisance, and we often have a very high tolerance for noise before we do anything about it – but the truth is, if the noise disturbs you, and is loud and sustained, then it is a nuisance, and you should not have to put up with it."

And what if I was to work strange hours and get disturbed by my neighbours starting their car in the morning to go to work? If you live near people there's going to be noise you can't control.

Using that scenario and the quote above, the car starting is fine, it's a daily noise. A car being revved for a long sustained period outside your home is a nuisance.

The fact the OP has been told that it is to loud and he has no plans on stopping it make this a moot point. Also if the middle tennents have no noise issues with the tennents above them, it can't be a simple problem of sound proofing.

I just struggle to believe that music + 12 young people in a flat = low level noise and the people made the complaint just to be picky. In a normal environment, with a T.V on, maybe this would be bearable (I doubt it) but when you are try to sleep, all of the noises are going to be amplified due to the lack of background noise and inreased concentration.
