Playseat & Microsoft Wheel Review

Mr Latte have you come across a product that is like just the front end of the playseat? The pedal and wheel bit. . I need something that I can use with the seat that's there already.

Great review btw, nice pics
Something like this,
https://shop.interactiveracing.com/e-commerce/viewproduct.asp?ProductID=77
Ordered one today £160 with vat and shipping.
I spoke to someone who uses one with BRD speed 7 pedals and loves the setup for home use,not cheap but will be well engineered coming from BRD.
Mr Latte that's a great play room you have there! well worth the effort having that loft sorted,i do hope you don't allow the wife to come up and spoil it with feminine things like flowers and air freshener :)

Yeah the frame does look nice :D

Tony that link you posted doesnt work for me

Strange m8,just tried and it went straight through? i know someone else has been unable to get on their site tonight but OK for me?

Some images updated, was too busy to do the conclusion tonight but i made good use of two friends that arrived to gather their opinions. Well i think its only fair to balance my own thoughts and thier first impressions based on Forza 2 and PGR3 testing.

does it have any kind of rubber feet or anything underneath it??

i'd always be scared of scratching a floor like that with it :(

Mr Latte said:
Playseat do sell a Playmat that means the frame wont scrape delicate flooring surfaces. The base of the seat has provision to be screwed into a base if desired to stop it from moving at all. Personally i find as evident in my photos some form of rubber strip should be sent with the kit to level off uneven wooden floors and to stop any damages to flooring.

;)

lol my bad. should have probably read every bit of your review

guess i got distracted by the pics like many others have :D

awesome review anyways

No problems man, pics are always more intersting anyways.

Will look into getting the conclusion done, already see quite a few more on the forums have ordered the wheel.

Nice set-up. The white fits in with the wheel quite nicely, though it will be a bitch to keep clean lol

Happy racing :)

Where do you live Mr Latte, can I come try before I buy. I can bring my own 360's ;)

My new desk comes wednesday, hopefully by the end of the week I will make a decision on the wheel and seat :D

any more thoughts on it, now you've had some more time to settle it in?

I am very envious of your set up, but will have to stick to strapping the wheel to a desk once/if I get it.

Ive been that busy with work that i havnt had a lot of time to play, i had been invited to re do the review for a Uk Forza website and did take more detailed photos for that particulary in how it can be dismantled. Was also holding off to try out the full games of FM2 and DIRT rather than basing my testing with the demos of both.

As for the Playseat apart from the creaking of springs theirs nothing that dissapoints me about it, well worth the money if you see yourself spending a lot of time playing racing games. As for the wheel again i find it an excellent purchase and will give it more attention when FM2 arrives this week, the DIRT demo was probably the most fun game i had experienced (turn the settings waay up) you feel with the seat your very much in an arcade machine particulary with this more arcarde lock-lock action style game. However its entirely a different kettle of fish to FM2 which requires a more accurate feedback and driving style.

Hi mate

This is going to sound really lazy as you probably said in your post, I just couldnt see it, where did you get it from?

If its a competitor could you email me the link please (email in trust)

I'm thinking of getting this for my dads 50th, it would be right up his street and he would love to get into Forza properly but cant without a set up

I did that :p but I was wondering if it was just the official site you had to buy through :p

The only other sites I saw looked rather dodgy :/

Playtime...

sorry to drag up this old thread, got a few questions about the play seat :)

Is the angle of the pedals holder adjustable?

Third, what is the high from the base of the seat to the floor? i.e. how high are you actually seated from the floor? (got a measurement for that?)

Is it easy to heel-toe? That bar for the wheel mount doesn't get in the way of that at all?

And lastly the holder for a shifter is pretty low (if anyone has seen it), realistic for a road car maybe but not so much for a race car, would it be relatively straight forward to make an attachment that might fit to the holder for the wheel? I see there are screw holes to bolt the wheel maybe a holder could be made that would attach to them under the wheel?
