PlayStation 4 Pro in-bound

Think I'll probably wait and keep my fingers crossed there is a special 2TB Mass Effect: Andromeda edition next year. :p

So when games are using supersampling in 1080p mode, what resolution is it supersampling from? Will those games be running at 2160p or can do you do it from 1440p/1800p/whatever?

I am not a massive fan of 4K, however I recently got an LG 65EF950V OLED which has caused a sad onset of upgrades to handle the higher resolution...

So a new receiver, cable to my PC and now a PS4 pro. I seem to have played exactly into manufacturers hands :/ I however really like to run things native resolution.

Games do look good at 4K on my PC but not really sure it was worth all this expense and a 6700K and GTX1080 don't even pull more than 40fps + in some of the more demanding games. The OLED on the other hand is a wonderful piece of technology.

I'm talking 16yrsand more ago here, ps2 was released in 2000 I think, even ps3 is now 10 years old.

We're talking how consoles used to be able to match pcs in the past. They could for the reasons ve mentioned but not anymore. you can't even pack a high end gpu in such small box anymore. IT'S not just size but power usage and heat output as well.

You said gpus have increase 5x times in size in the last 15 years. the voodoo 5 5500 was released 16 years ago and it was 9.5" long. 9.5" to whatever is the longest card out there at the moment is not a 5x increase. it was also a $600 card, so whether you were talking about 150 quid top end cards 15 years ago, or 5 years ago like your last post inferred, either way you remembered incorrectly. Your memory is flawed :)

Also, i disagree. Gaming PCs, if anything, are getting smaller. These days you dont need a rack of fans, KGs of copper heatsinks and massive cards to play games. Yes you can go down that route if you like, but you could also fit something like a 1070 & i5 combo in an ITX machine if you wanted, and that sort of power has never been achievable in such a small footprint before. It's easier and cheaper to build something that will play games reasonably well than it's ever been, IMO.

I pre-ordered from the rainforest in September, so the £332 price has stuck.

I also got the cheap Dishonoured 2 code through but not sure I even want the game. Never really got into the first one.

Surprised to not see one TV ad for it yet. It is a new console after all.

Thing is an advert would be hard I assume, can't air a 4k advert especially as most people do still use 1080p, they need another way of marketing it for all. I sense social media would be there best idea this time around

They have made some dodgy 80's throwback ad, complete with mulleted teenager. I believe plenty of illegal substances were on the go when the marketing team came up with this.

Wonder how many games the PS4 Pro will break. Even though Sony said there should be no problems, there's no way they will have tested every single PS4 game. I'm pretty sure when the PS2 became PStwo and PS3 became PS3 Slim, some titles wouldn't play on the newer devices.

Which now can be easily fixed with a download patch if one comes to light.

it shouldn't break any really considering it will have no added effect on most games. it will only give a bonus to titles that get patched for the ps4 pro, the devs might break a few by putting out dodgy patches but that's another thing
