PlayStation 4 Pro in-bound

On console with fixed hardware there are some assumptions you can make that devs take advantage of when they know precisely what cycles are available and the timing of them.

Games written for PS4 were never written to deal with much faster hardware and some of them will probably break if you just ran it on the Pro. It's a QC measure really, you can be pretty confident that the whole game library will run fine on the PS4 pro throttled to mimic a PS4.

In order to use the Pro hardware, you gotta patch it. Even if the patch is just flipping one bit and putting it through QA/certification to say it works fine.

Ahh that makes a lot more sense, I forget how efficient you have to be with consoles at times.

Yeah I know what you mean, I really want to get one as well but I just feel I should wait until I have the TV to get the best from the Pro.

The fact Gamestop will let me trade my current one in and it will only cost me 145 euro extra for the pro with a game on their list is a really good deal to be fair.

I obviously wouldn't go for it if it was 200 or more but the deal is a really good one I have to say.

seriously???

They're giving you over €250 for a standard PS4?

Snap it up!

Mine playing BF1 hasn't even made a noise yet, not even on the other 3-4 games i've played. So noisy while downloading an update, something is wrong with it.

I had to have my old PS4 under my desk as it was so loud my mic would pick it up and it'd be audible over my headset - plus with streaming i couldn't have that noise in the background. Now with the Pro i've got it on my desk within arms reach and not heard it once.

You have a magical PS4 Pro that has a silent Blu-ray drive then? Cause if he just put the disk in and it's installing from disk and downloading the update at the same time his console isn't going to be quiet, once the install from disk has finished and it spins the drive down the noise will be gone.

Sadly it didn't go. It's louder than my launch PS4. I've been in touch with Game and they're going to replace it for a sealed unit. Bit of a pain in the back side. Will retract my thumbs up! :o

No, installed and played games and tbh other than hearing drive making a little noise when installing it's been quiet with everything else. As he's mentioned above it didn't go, hence it being a faulty system.

They use Radial fans in the PS4 and Pro they will never be silent. I can hear mine when gaming but it's not what I would call loud just what I would expect with a radial fan cooling a hefty APU...

Got mine on Tuesday can't say I hear much noise from it maybe the disc drive spinning up. It's not any louder than the Xbox ones power brick which can get a bit noisy. Virgin TiVo box makes the most noise.

The annoying thing is you'd probably just end up with 4k downsampled and still 30fps if the game was patched. All I want is 1080p/60 Sony!

You can still have DS3 at 60fps at least on pc. BUT FROM WHY NO 144HZ! FREE THE FRAMES.

Funny cuz DS3 uses the same engine as Bloodborne. I do think bloodborne is the superior game though even at cinematic 24fps.....or 20...or 10...grr..

Not sure if someone mentioned but right now ps4 pro @ argos for 349.99 with free dishonored 2 AND 10% cash back from quidco, bringing to console price to around 280£ if you sell the game
