PlayStation 4 Pro in-bound

I'd expect most games coming out from now will support the extra features of the pro, isn't battlefront quite old now (in gaming terms)?

Came out last year, still supported by Dice though. Had recent DLC releases, including a good VR experience.

It would be nice to see a 1080p patch for the pro.

Surely its not that difficult to patch a game to run better on similar hardware.

It's far more complex than people think. It's not just pressing a button that says "use the new hardware" and adding higher res textures.

The developers could do it, but there needs to be a good value proposition for them to do so. In other words it needs to be profitable.

Might give others the incentive to buy that rather expensive season pass :D.

Hell might even get a few extra sales.

Fair point about it not being as easy as flicking a switch.

I can't remember where I read it (Eurogamer perhaps?!) but I recall it being mentioned that all games going forward must have Pro enhancements. What the actual enhancements are would be left up to the developer.

We are in a weird situation where the majority of current games (at least "AAA") came out before or around the Pro launch.

Eurogamer have a article which is constantly refreshed that highlights the pro enhancements by game.

I think was from the leaked docs earlier in the year, I don't know if that is actually a requirement or not.

A whole lot of fud was spread around then that people still think applies now.

That does ring a bell, thanks. :)

It does make logical sense for Sony to make it some form of requirement, but as you say there was so much fud spread about that it could have just been a rumour or "suggestion".

Agreed, I assumed they would release a box "Gold Edition" soon, may be the time to then up it. While I agree it isn't just a case of pressing a button as mentioned earlier, they already have their other recent Frostbite games (Battlefield 1 and Fifa, the latter not developed by them but using their engine) updated to run better on the Pro. As for textures, I am sure they are already 1080p standard...

ive been thinking of getting a pro but my only concern is support.

what incentives are developers being given to cater for what is probably 5% of the market.

Any news games pretty much HAVE to support it. Sony are pushing this thing on them pretty hard.

All of the recent and newly released games have it and more keep being added from older titles.

Pretty cool news regarding the Division. It looks and runs fine on the base PS4 so any enhancements are welcome. Will be in time (well slightly after) the new Survival DLC is launched on the platform.

I watched a video on you tube last night (4k) that showed uncharted 4 and R&C on the pro and normal ps4. I have to say it didnt look massively different to me. Is it a big improvement?

Sorry to say but youtube video's have **** bandwidth. Did you actually watch these video's on a 4k display? Youtube as far as I am aware don't do HDR etc

In terms of different, R&C is a big step up. UC4, is a good increase mainly due to HDR, at the end of the day you still need a very good 4k, HDR TV to take advantage of the PS4 Pro.

It was a 4k stream, however I was looking at sharpness of textures.
