***** PlayStation Vita Official Thread *****

That's not necessarily true. It's not difinitive that they have said they will stick with the PS3

“We're not working on anything for PS Vita. I won't say never, ever, but there's no plans for it right now - we've always felt that consoles play to our strengths as a studio the best”, stated Meyer.

So they may in the future but that is definately not a no which is good enough for me

I can't believe you are getting any hope from that, ND have never made a portable game and after that statement I would just forget about it ever happening.

I've just noticed that you're not on the PSN list. do you have a Vita?

Turned on from off, I have everything unticked as well but it just comes back on when turning it on.

That's really odd. Mine doesn't  I'll take screens of all my settings pages tomorrow and post them. I've looked in all of them to see if there is anything which might trigger it but couldn't see anything other than what was in the BT menu.

ND are Sony owned, they'll do what they are told.

ND are also Sony's most productive studio and that's why they have been given the freedom to make The Last of Us. Vultures were swooping to steal talent and they had to let them do whatever they wanted. Sony don't push their teams, if they did it wouldn't take 7 years to make GT5 and 6 years to make The Last Guardian etc.

After I confess to the wife tonight that i have purchased a PS Vita (its been hiding in a cupboard upstairs since yesterday afternoon)
A nice rib eye steak to soften her up first...
wish me luck

lol! Good luck

You were happy with your deal.

Im surprised how happy people are that they get ripped off by Game and Gamestation lol

Laughing at people for their decisions isn't always the best way to make friends around here, especially since you don't know their circumstances. Several people on here bought from game and gamestation because they had a load of credit built up so the total cost was much less than just buying it from Amazon or some of the others.

For anyone wanting to import, planetaxel cover import tax and duty with their handling/delivery charge which for my 32GB memory card was $3 from Canada.

Yeah saw that dude. I wonder what he does all day. He seems to just play games and answer people like us on twitter! I only joined it to get answers from him lol.

On the Bluetooth front. I've just tested mind to be sure. As standard my BT is off. If I reboot it does not come back on. If I turn it on and reboot it DOES come back on. I've just turned it back off and rebooted again and it's not come back.

I'll do those screen caps tomorrow and hopefully we can find some odd settings that's making mine work and yours not.

Have you registered any BT devices that it might be turning on to look for? I have not.

Has any members been testing there screens for Dead/Lazy Pixels!?
Been many cases of this?
I only ask, because I ordered online, in it will be a PITA to return..

Sony's response to Dead/Lazy Pixels
http://faq.en.playstation.com/app/a...TMzMDEyODI5Mi9zaWQveDg2R0N4Ums=/locale/en_GB/

Mine has no dead pixels. I've heard of a couple of people with issues but not many, only one on here and he didn't notice it while actually playing so didn;t plan on returning it.

That line from Sony is normal form panel manufacturers, if you returned it to the store they'd replace it.

LOL

After a massive lecture about trying to save money, our shocking childcare costs (we have four kids), and her lack of free cash to spend in River Island she tells me she was thinking of buying me one for my birthday (about 5 weeks away) :D

looks like im getting uncharted now instead and NOTHING else lol

NICE! Don;t forget Motorstorm! Excellent for under a fiver and a nice change from Ucharted.

Noticed most brand new games on the US PSN are about £20-22 to buy, tempted to make myself a US PSN account just to get them cheaper

Yep, just be warned that you can only play those games on the account that you bought them on unlike on the PS3. You can change accounts and pay other stuff but you'll never be able to play your US DD games on your UK account.

So I can get Vita(wifi), uncharted, 16gb card for £215. Decent price?

What else is worth considering??

Very good price, Amazon's best offer in that range is Wifi + 8GB + Fifa for £232.

Motorstorm RC and Stuper Stardust can both be had for less than £15 in total and are both excellent games.

Full retail titles are going to be dependant on what you are interested in. Wipeout, Everybodys Golf, Rayman, Fifa etc are all great games.

I'll check them out :)

I managed to get a PS Vita with a 4gb card and lumines for £185. Used but in excellent condition.

Wow. Why would people sell something so fast instead of just returning it to the shop

Another chunk from the Motorstorm RC review on eurogamer

If you play MotorStorm RC on PS3, however, you can enjoy split-screen racing for four players. Which brings us to MotorStorm RC's most remarkable feature. This is a true cross-play game, with one price covering both Vita and PS3 versions, no segregation of players on the leaderboards, and your progress saved to the cloud and transferred seamlessly between the two clients. The game is completely identical on the two systems, save a few additional graphical effects on the PS3 version.

It's witchcraft, frankly. This first taste of genuine cross-platform play between home and handheld makes it seem an extremely compelling proposition, and it's very exciting (even though I'm always going to prefer playing RC on Vita - it just seems more at home there). It might not be a vision of the future - you can play Portal on your laptop, after all - but it's certainly a lot more like the present than anything else the console manufacturers are offering.

Just heard that Uncharted: Golden Abyss is top of the retail charts this week in the UK.

PlayStation Vita launch title Uncharted: Golden Abyss has claimed top spot in the new UK all-format charts.

Vita exclusive FIFA Football was second.

The two games accounted for 50 per cent of the total Vita software sold last week. There were 23 launch titles in total.

PlayStation Vita hardware sales data showed that 79 per cent of buyers chose the Vita's Wi-Fi version. Chart-Track does not publicly disclose sales figures.

EA shooter reboot Syndicate entered the chart in seventh, meanwhile, behind UFC3, FIFA 12, Rayman Origins and Mario & Sonic Olympics 2012.

Wii exclusive role-player The Last Story debuted in 15th place. The latest title from Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi was not stocked at GAME or Gamestation in the UK.

But new Sega tactical shooter Binary Domain fared less well, landing 35th.

Other Vita games managing a place in the top 40 included WipEout 2048 (11th place), Ridge Racer (28th) and Everybody's Golf (32nd). And multi-platform game Rayman Origins shot up from 36th to 5th after the release of its Vita version.

Obviously digital sales are not counted at all here.

Currently backing up my 8GB card to my PC and will then transfer back on to the 32GB.

Hi
Is anyone else having problems adding funds to the wallet on the psn store?I'm using an o2 visa card if thats any help and I keep getting an error msg "could not add funds"

I didn't have any problems using my mastercard.

Are you doing this from the Vita, the PS3 or online?

Shouldn't you just post your ID in here so it can be added to the Vita list?

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18213155

Kreeee did a google docs sheet that we can put our names in and the games we have which is good. No idea if people are adding themselves to it.

At least that way we can add people who have similar games for multiplayer.

1) The customer service representative at the store told me that the memory card locks itself to a specific machine. Does this mean if I start playing my PS Vita wifi version tonight and then swap the memory card to the 3g version later in the week it will not work? Or was he talking nonsense.

2) If I start playing the free game (uncharted) which came with the vita from the disk tonight, then tomorrow trade the game in and buy the download version of the game, will it use the save files etc or be treated as a different instance of the game?

Thanks for you help

1) Not 100%, but what you certainly CAN do is hook your WiFi model up to your PC/MAC or PS3, use the content manager to backup (does one big file dump), then format the card and pop it in the 3G and then tell it to restore from your PC/MAC/PS3.

It MIGHT be true that you can't just put an already in use card into a different machine and access that content, I don't have enough Vitas to try it out.

You'll DEFINITELY be able to use that card in your new Vita however, just use the backup/restore I mentioned above.

2) Again not 100%, I THINK that games that save to the memory card will allow you to use either a cart or a download version but I'm not 100%. The few games that save direct to the cart are I THINK not possible to back up or copy.

Sorry I can;t be of more help.

DBT, how do you know all these things? I see you answering everyones questions every day :P
Just got my vita :D Cant wait to play it :D

I've been reading pretty much everything about the Vita since it was first unveiled as the NGP. As a result I know lots about it and can make a nice OP with lots of information for folks that are only just finding out it even exists :)

Thanks for the info DBT.

As long as the memory card will still work in the later vita that's the main thing. Guy in store indicated that it would only ever work in 1 vita.

I'm hoping since I will only be using one PSN account the whole time, if i start uncharted tonight onto the card make saves, once I have deregistered the wifi vita and registered the 3g version it onto the account the card should just hop accross... worse case I lose saves.

All in all, it is a weird situation. All I wanted was a standalone 3G model without carts, but the local store I am trading my 3DS in for only had wifi version with carts in stock, so.....

  1. I bought wifi + uncharted for 230 quid.
  2. Later in the week when they get 3g version in I will trade in my wifi and uncharted for 245 quid at same store (yes, 245, it is not a typo), and get 3g version + uncharted (v2)
  3. Then I will trade in uncharted (v2) for PSN vouchers and buy downloadable version of uncharted (v3)

It does mean this week I will own 2 vitas and 3 versions of uncharted... which is why the weird questions :p

Well put it this way, if it will only ever work in one vita there are going to be some unhappy people soon as they buy used cards. I posted my 8GB this morning so we should either see a puddle of rage posting in here tomorrow or a happy camper. I'mm 99.9% sure it'll be the latter.

Just make sure you do a backup of the card before you send the WiFi back, that way even if it won't work in the 3G without a format you still have your data.

I'll see if I can find out about the Uncharted save thing for you.

Ive not seen the starter kit in the shops, only the travel kit. I assume they are both different?

Yes, the Travel kit has the car charger in and the start kit doesn't probably some other differences too.

EDIT: someone found an easter egg in Uncharted when on his second playthrough, this time on Crushing difficulty. Spoiler alert. Real actress is made jump by someone on set and every has a laugh, it's all rendered into the game with the character movements too.

On the Uncharted thing, you can use your saves from HotShots and Lumines on both the Retail and Digital versions. The same should be true of anything that saves to the memory card.

anyone know if it's possible to change my psn account to say im from the US or to make a new one on the vita?

You can't change the region of the account, you'll just have to make a new one if you want a US account.

Does anyone have a problem auto connecting to the wifi? every time I put it in sleep mode it disconnects and then I have to go into setting and manually reconnect it

Not had anything like that. mine hooks up fine. I WILL post my settings tomorrow for those struggling with this and the bluetooth issue.

http://i42.tinypic.com/21l3hhx.jpg
Does that look decent, or should I use different icons or even leave them out?

I like it, but I do prefer ones with no circles. The bubbles move around and I think it can look odd sometimes. Maybe have a clean one too?

Hmmm fifa frame rate it pretty poor!

Ok, what game shall I get?

Everybodys golf (never played before but hearing good things)
Virtua Tennis (played before and enjoyed)
I'll be getting Uncharted soon.

Odd, most people have said Fifa ran well apart from the cutsceneswhen the players come out and stuff.

Virtua Tennis looks stunning and is native res and 60fps. Golf is getting some love too.

Much better!
I know a lot of people are saying MotorStorm RC is amazing, and rightly so as I also have it, but I simply cannot recommend Tales from Space: Mutant Blobs Attack enough!

This game is soooooooooooooo good!

Youtube Trailer

Off topic - Does embedding work here? I cant remember!
Yeah thinking of picking that up too as it looks fun.

You need

It's not bad at all, just that the Vita needs to avoid a cratering in sales once the initial rush is over.

I've warmed to the idea somewhat, but i'm waiting for a price drop I think.

Just remember that even the ill fated PSP Go kept its price for months and months. I'm still not expecting anything before December, especially with the discounts retailers are offering
You still are doing alright.. You have me beat on more races that you have set times for and I am finding it hard to change that.

I have unlocked more tracks/super cars than anyone else it seems which makes me look good overall but that will change.

I wouldnt be playing it so much if there wasnt people like you making it a challenge. :D

We are friends right? I can't remember as so many people added me!

3 hours yesterday getting loads of stuff. Will be trying to set some better laps today but hopefully I can put it down for some Uncharted!

You bought any cars of the store yet?

Some times which are set are too hard :(

Not bought any of the cards, I downloaded the free one. Unless I needed to download a car for an event or a trophy I probably wouldn't, I'm not into that kind of DLC personally. When the new festivals are available I'll get those as that is more useful content in my eyes, not just a different car or sin or something

Does this have an alarm clock? Daft question I know. But this would make a very nice bedside alarm clock. With the craddle.

http://us.playstation.com/psvita/accessories/browse/psv-cradle.html

Not at this time no. The PS Suite may get one and many others once it goes live but we just don't know. Thinking of getting that cradle myself.

Does anyone know what size the average demo is ? Just I might get vita later today and comes with 4gb card i know that's not allot but would it hold a few demos ?

The Demos run from 200mb to full sized games. All of the Ubisoft titles for example are the full game when you download them, you then just buy a 100kb unlock code.

I might try and compile a list today.. might. lol

Loads of questions I know, but what is the deal with APPS? Is it right this uses Andriod as an OS?

Could we potentially see a lot of apps for this in the future? With its OLED screen this could be fantastic!

How much is Sony going to lock it down, theres a few apps that interest me at the moment and if there going to be released on it eventually. This would be one hell of a piece of hardware.

It does not use Android OS. However with the PS suite which is due to launch at some point this year developers will get an easy way to put their apps and games onto any PS Suite certified devices. It's easy to code for and should be easy to port from iOS and Android.

The only things you will certainly never see are anything like emulators for old consoles and the like. We'll only know more once it launches though.

On the subject of apps, did anyone's facebook app stop working and it seems to have been removed from the store?

Yeah, Facebook borked the app so it was removed until they fix it. Shouldn't be long. The Twitter and Flickr apps are much much better quality IMO.

http://mentalgamers.com/2012/02/how-to-us-netflix-on-a-uk-vita/

Can people start beating my times on Motorstorm so I can get the final trophy? :p

I'm trying!
Aaarg the sheep level in escape plan is driving me nuts. Find it hard to control them :(

Wife said it was hard too but she managed it. The gauntlet is laid down!

So i've had a couple of days to play about and now i'm disappointed to say that Reckless racing 2 on the iphone boasts equivalent graphics to motorstorm and is far the better game :( Touch controls suit this kind of game quite well also, so that's a bit of a stinker!

Vita needs games like uncharted desperately... not simplistic one's like motorstorm rc and rayman that phones can easily replicate.

On a graphical level I cannot comment, but without real controls the likes of Rayman and Motorstorm will always be superior on the Vita in my opinion. Always.

But you need to use a Jap PSN account just to play that game though then, since the game is linked to your account

The demo is not region locked however. You should be able to sign in with a Japanese account, download the demo and then log back in with your UK account and play it.

Also top tip for anyone that hasn't seen, hold + and - to mute.

If I was to trade my Wifi for a 3G, could I simply use Content manager to backup/restore all my content (inc purchased digital downloads) from one Vita to another? Or will I have problems with content licences :(

No, the licences are tied to your PSN account, not the hardware. What you WILL have to do is deactivate your system before you take it back otherise you'll have two Vita's linked to your PSN account.

So use the content manager to make a backup to your PC/MAC/PS3, then go into the settings, PSN, system activation, game and hit deactivate. Now your PSN account will not be linked to any hardware.

When you get your new model just punch in your PSN details and do a Restore using the Content manager.

I THINK using the PS website you can deactivate systems remotely but I'm not 100% on that.

Seriously considering getting a Vita next month or so (as I haven't owned a handheld since the Gameboy). Is it worth forking out the extra £60 for the 3G version?

If you want Wipeout as well then I would say yes since you get it for an extra £5 when you top up with Vodafone, but then I own one. I like the option of having 3G and GPS against not having it and Near works better with the 3G since it can get your position all the time rather than only when you are connected to a WiFi hotspot that is registered with Skyhook.

Any of the online functionality you can do through a tethered phone if you like.

I've just ordered a 3GB a month for 6months sim from eBay for £29. For me, that added handiness of having it there when I want it is worth it.

Plenty of people got the WiFi though, about 79% of those that bought one in the UK got the WiFi.

On Gravity Rush, it is coming out here and is expected in May.

What was that hidden trophy for on Motorstorm Murray?

Just beat a few times off the pitwall and tried more of the supercar speed trials. That car does NOT like the slightest bump!

There is two basketball hoops in the playground if you jump through them both without exiting you get it there is also another one where you get secret cars, on the basketball hoop with the numbers on it if you get that to 10 you unlock one and 20 another one, same with the football goals.

Ahh ok, I've gone through one hoop and scored one goal but didn't know it was for anything. Will work on that one another day, maybe when i try the Supercar trials on the last 2 festivals.

If it's the three data sim cards for £28.75 :eek:only last week they were going for £18.99

Yeah, as soon as the guy selling them realised that the 3G was out he's bumped the price up. Understandable really. Even then, £5 a month for 3GB is a great deal. Even GiffGaff only gives you 500MB for that, 3gb costs £12.50

My only regret so far is getting the wifi over 3G

Order a 3G and take the WiFi back once it's arrived

Just an update for any one who cares regaridng the pixel on my Vita, I spoke to Amazon to find out there procedure for returns incase i did wish to exchange to my surprise there sending a replacement unit first :D So if thats okay i will return the one i have.

I was expecting them to require me to send this back first with it being tested etc its not so awesome.

So to any one who can help what do i need to do with the one i have? i.e. do i just take my mem card out n factory reset it and all good? Im assmuing saves, account licenses tied to the mem unit and my actual psn account

First things first, use Content Manager and do a Backup to your machine of choice (PC/Mac/PS3). Then whatever happens you have all your saves and stuff. Set your new Vita up and once happy, on the old one go into Settings, PSN, Activation, Game and click deactivate and do the same for Video. That way your PSN account won't be tied to two Vitas.

The advantage you have is that you'll have 2 vitas to make the change, most people doing it will have to do it before swapping them out. At least you can double check everything before you box the old one up.

If you want to see what devices your PSN account is currently tied to go to

Cheers for that! Also thanks to your link i now know why my current PS3 Slim wont play and Videos from store etc cause it thinks my original Phat PS3 is main system which died a long time ago so i cant even deactivate that !! :(

Regarding Vita just done a back up think ive done it right, New Vita should be with me for Friday :)

Try phoning Sony, they might deactivate the other one for you. Stress that you can't buy any videos from them until they do and that might jog them along.

Well done on the Motorstorm Plat Murray. Mine hopefully wont be too far away.
