Bugger, I always knew it be cheaper online but not that much, HIGHstreet prices...

As ANN1H1LAT0R said, are you sure you didn't get the 3G?

If you want, just order one from Amazon, if you havn't used it yet sign up for the Prime trial and you'll get it Monday :) Then just take that one back to Argos and tell them where to stuff it.

Hey folks, what would the difference be between the PSN store version and physical media version of Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3 on the PSV? Are there any?
(Whats the cheapest the physical media version can be had for?)

No difference mate. Physical cards load a second or so faster but that's all.

Amazon do the cart for £30

vita does not matter what demo tryed them al today

How strange. What about apps? I've not had any issues but would it not be a bit soon to decide that it's doomed and not worth it? I understand you're annoyed but for all we know they have been having server errors today.

Nearly completed all the events on Motorstorm, going to beat everyones times after that :D

There'll be plenty of competition for top spot ;) Love that little game.

An exerpt from Eurogamer

And it's doing it in style with this excellent top-down arcade racer, whose diminutive scope and price tag don't detract from its serious racing credentials at all. It's social, it's mobile, it's lean, but it's not casual.

Its sophisticated handling model tests your skill. There's a notable lack of tacked-on touch control where it's not needed (a phenomenon which otherwise infests the Vita's launch games). And the social features are based on the vision of an online arcade presented by Bizarre's Geometry Wars 2 and Criterion's Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, rather than FarmVille. What's more, RC is the most convincing current demonstration of an amazing feat only Vita can achieve - a proper home console game and a proper portable game for the same price, seamlessly integrated through the cloud.

The Vita launch has played havoc with our review schedule, so you'll have to wait until Monday morning for my review, but here's a preview of it: "MotorStorm RC isn't two games in one, it's one game in two - and it's an absurd bargain. With online multiplayer, it would be a miniature classic. As it is, it's recommended for PS3 owners, all but essential if you have a Vita - and for lovers of RC cars or top-down racing, it's a rare treat."

It's far from the biggest Vita game, and if you count Japanese releases it's certainly not the best (that would be Gravity Daze). It hardly guarantees Vita's success. But MotorStorm RC shows Sony having its hardcore portable cake and eating it, and we definitely want a slice.

Can you show me this deal please, Just tried it and it comes to £287.54 on Amazon, which is only £20 difference.

I read were it says get a Vita Wi-Fi £197, 8GB Memory for £20 and and a £15 game, so £232, plus £29.56 for EBG, is like you said £261.56 but when I get to the checkout it says £287.54.

Only once you get to the final confirmation screen is the deal added up correctly.

Just got my Vita. Any thing I should do before I start playing games? Tips/Hints?

Cheers

Set your standby time to something other than 1 minute. That gets annoying fast.

Plus, my 32GB memory card arrived. There will be an 8GB one in the MM tomorrow used but obviously still fine.

Also I can confirm that Near will update even when YOU put the vita into standby. Mine checked for my location every 30 minutes on my drive home and picked up several locations.

Wife is playing Escape Plan again, just started laughing like muttley (shes I'll) and screaming at it for the character dying. :)

Thats a decent price :) never heard of them though. I assume theyre reliable then :)

Im thinking of just getting 2x 16Gig cards though. A mate of mine can get them for £24 each so its a no brainer for me

Yeah they are reputable apparently, never used them before this though.

£24 each for 16GBs is a great price though!

How much was post and packaging. They seem to sell games cheap too :)

$3 canadian.

is it cheaper to buy games from the ps3 psn store? i havnt checked yet

Cheaper than retail? No, it was never going to be. It is discounted from the RRP, but the fighting UK retailers do means the prices they sell at are already lower than those.

Uncharteds RRP for example is £45, it's on the PSN for £40 and you can get it on Amazon for £37.90, Shopto for 36.85.

Well thats that then. I know where Im pre-ordering my future Vita games lol. Mortal Kombat and Silent Hill here I come haha

Don't forget that while cart games will work on ANY region account and ANY region Vita, if DLC is locked to the region the cart came from (IE doesn't come out in the UK) you'll have to play the game on that region account to play any DLC.

Is it possible to use a US 3G vita in the UK? I assume it will be :)

The Vita itself will work but AT&T managed to get the Vita's locked to their network over there and DoCOMo got the same in Japan. Vodafone didn't get the same here thank god. Plus we got the best bonus for getting 3g (Wipeout 2048). In the US they got Super Stardust Delta (still excellent) but only after a 30 day wait!

The European Vita is the best one out of EU/US/JAP for that sole reason IMO.

Still haven't had my wipeout code from Vodafone.....

Have you received ANY messages from Vodafone to your Vita? If so which ones?

Have you tried turning off WiFi and 3G, rebooting, turning 3G on and then opening the brower and just going to google? Some peopleh ave reported that as soon as they tried to use the 3G they started getting codes.

Have you made an account on Vodafones website here?

Why the hell can't we get Gravity Rush?

Because they need a good stream of games coming out to maintain interest in the system and to continually drive new customers to buy it and the games.

Bear in mind we had 30 games for our launch, that's more than double what Japan had and about 3 more than the US. Now of those, I'm fairly confident that Uncharted sold well as it's the marquee title, and Motorstorm, Super Stardust, Wipeout, Rayman and Fifa will probably have done quite well also. But while so many games available is great for us to have a great selection it's not great for the devs whos game gets overlooked because there are so many new titles at once.

Look at just before Christmas. Assassins Creed, BF3, COD, Skyrim and Batman: AC all released within about 4-6 weeks of each other. Ubisoft also released Rayman at the same time which bombed despite being one of the games of the year.

Hopefully by spreading them out they'll get good sales of each which if they are good games they deserve and will encourage them to make other games.

Quick question guys, are the themes wallpapers or proper themes like the PS3 and PSP has?

Just wallpapers at this time. Not heard anything to suggest that themes are coming but it's a revenue stream for them to sell them so I imagine they will.

This looks interesting

http://www.pdp.com/p-1118-trigger-grips-for-ps-vita.aspx

If you have a transparent background on a picture you can still have the normal background and the picture which is rather nice, if you want to change the background colour you have to select the picture again though

Yeah I saw those trigger grips, wanderson75.net did a review and were quite happy (4.5/5)

I've not had a play with any of the transparent backgrounds yet, I've found a nice white one with just the coloured PS logo in the centre that I want to try out though. I'll grab some screens I think.

Just made it, what do you think guys?

Looking nice, maybe you could do a second version with the black border missing?

I can try, however I haven't got my Vita yet so dunno how it'll look

Edit: How does this look then?, I've left in the dark area for time and stuff but also removed the little puller

Ahh didn't realise you hadn't joined us yet.

I'll see if I can get you a screen of it on the machine. look for an EDIT in a minute or 12.

Photos of both from my phone are in the spoilers.

I'm actually wondering if perhaps they had too many games at launch, sure 30 games at launch was great but there doesn't seem to be a massive amount of good games before May. Though we don't have a release date for the MGS or ZOE collections yet.

Well we know about Unit 13, MLB 12 and Silent Hill: Book of memories in March, Mortal Kombat in April, Resistance: Burning Skies and Gravity Rush in May and as you said, the MGS and ZOE dates are not set yet, nor is FFX.

Also no word on things like Sound Shapes, Little Big Planet, Warriors Lair, Dust 514 etc.

There is also this unknown hanging over Final Fantasy Type-0. We know that it is being translated for the west but with the PSP dead we have no idea what platform they'll release it on. Will thy go PSP but digital only or will they just release it as a Vita game.

GDC is from March 5th-9th so it's possible we'll hear more then. I understand them wanting to not get too loud only because they wanted to focus on the launch batch up until now.

I haven't even played a race on Wipeout, a level on Escape Plan started Lumines or Rayman yet! Wife is liking Escape Plan though.

I turned it on last night to play a few laps on Motorstorm and went to bed an hour later :( Set a couple of decent laps though. That rally car is nuts.

How are you guys taking screen shots as above? Is there some kind of screen capture mode? Also how do you upload new pictures to and from the PSV?

Press the PS button and Start at the same time and it'll take a screenshot. It works in most games but is disabled in a couple.

I upload the images from the Vita to Flickr using the app. But I put new images on it by either saving from the browser (tap the image to bring up a menu) or by connecting to my PC and using the Content Manger to transfer back and forth.

Just bought Motorstorm RC!!!

Welcome to the gang! Go see if you can beat any of us :)

Got a question you guys may be able to help with :)

I have Metal Gear Solid 1 and Final Fantasy 7 for the PS3 from the playstation store. Will I be able to play these on the Vita?

Also thanks to the security breach I received some free games and two of them were PSN games. Dead Nation and that Stardust. Will I be able to transfer these to my PS Vita and play these also? I know there is a Stardust game already out for the Vita but I already have the PS3 one and was hoping to play that on the go instead :)

RE: Final Fantasy 5 and MGS1. Yes, but not yet. The reason is primarily believed to be because of how PS1 games work on new hardware.

On the PSP, you played PS1 games through an emulator that Sony wrote to emulate PS1 code into something the PSP could understand. On the Vita, you an play PSP games through the same process. They wrote an emulator to convert PSP code into something the Vita can understand.

To run PS1 games the only way of doing it without writing a new emulator would be to open the PSP emulator and then open the PS1 emulator inside it. Running an emulator within an emulator is just inefficient and a waste of power.

Sony are adding PS1 support soon so we will just have to be patient. I too have FF 7, 8 & 9 as well as Crash Bandicoot 1,2 & 3 to play!

RE: Dead Nation and Stardust. No, they are PS3 games. The Super Stardust Delta for the Vita is about £8 and has more content than the PS3 version to boot :) No work ona Dead Nation port but I'd love one as would a load of others!

Still trying to understand what's so special about the 3G version  Fair enough we get Wipeout if we top up a fiver, but we can't play online over 3G so what purpouse does it serve? All we can do is browse our Facebook on the move or maybe do a bit of light web browsing

I've been using it for near and playing motorstorm its constantly downloading times and ghosts of other players. Same is true in wipeout I think. It can be done with tethering but I just find it more convenient and it saves my phone battery.

Near also works a lot better with the 3g as it can get your location from your provider and from GPS. on the WiFi model Near only gets a location if the WiFi hotspot you are using is in the skyhook database.

That's all you were ever going to be able to do with 3G really. That and download new ghost cars for games and stats or message friends etc

3G was never really worth the overall premium. You can't even download games over 3G just stats and trophy data etc. Small things.

To be fair, whether it is worth the premium is surely up to the individual. If it was £50 then I would probably agree that it wasn't worth it. I was originally only going to get the WiFi model. With Wipeout being part of that deal though it's cost me an extra £25 over the WiFi model. £25 was worth a punt even if it wasn't worth it and personally I'm rather pleased that I went with this one. But then I always knew that head to head over 3G wasn't an option.

It seems some people may be being mis-sold or are misunderstanding what they can and can't do and that is obviously an issue.

As I've said before, I can completely understand why people would go with the WiFi, I changed my mind very late before release.

Just phoned up vodafone and the guy said if you top up online you will not get the wipeout game. You need to register the sim on the psvita

just topped up my psvita and waiting.....

I registered my account on the Vodafone site and got the activation code and then topped up my account online from within my account and my Wipeout code came through fine.

Vodafone have made an utter mess of this promotion when it should have been much simpler!

I wan't being mean I meant it wasn't worth the premium for me. I managed to get wipeout for only £18 so even with the free wipeout game 3G wasn't worth it for me. I would have liked the whole Near thing using 3G as your more likely to unlock extras for games quicker and easier but I just felt it wasn't worth the extra cash. If the Vita had been the newer 4G and with that had the ability to play games online I'd have paid whatever the extra would have been for that though lol

Ahh sorry, I thought it was a general "it's not worth it and anyone who got it must be CraZy" rather than "for me it wasn't worth it".

4G isn't available in the UK and probably won't be for a year. Even then it'll be patchy :(

The iPhone 5 will change the 4G situation I'm sure lol

iPhone 5 wont change anything.

The bad news is that UK is sadly lagging behind much off the rest of the word in that we’re not going to get LTE ‘4G’ until the government, or more specifically Ofcom auctions of the 2 bands of spectrum (the 2.6GHz band and the 800MHz band) which the mobile networks can use to provide 4G. It was expected that Ofcom would release spectrum early next year (2012) however the 4G auction has recently been pushed back to late 2012.

Apple don't have as much sway as people like to think.

Im hoping that at E3 this year we will have announcements on new games in these series

God of War
Syphon Filter
Metal Gear Solid
Resident Evil
And a true Naughty Dog developed game

This would make the Vita perfect lol

Naughty dog have already said they are not developing for it and are sticking to the home console.

It looks OK but from the videos Ive seen it seems more PSP quality than Vita quality. 2 player Co-op sounds awesome though and the daily challenges may be interesting. How do you communicate in 2 player co-op though unless your sat with your mate in the same room lol. That could lead to a few rage quitters. When the demo comes back(if) Ill give it a go for usre though :)

To communicate you would use cross game voice chat that the Vita has, you'd just be in the same game.

PSP quality seems harsh from what I've seen in screenshots and videos.

A new Crash Bandicoot game please :D

I would also like to see a Monkey Island game. Point and click would kinda work okay on the vita.

Only good Crash is Naughty Dog Crash (1,2,3 & CTR), but Activision own the IP and Naughty dog are not developing on the Vita :(

My bluetooth automatically turns on when the Vita is turned on, anyway to turn this off?

Turned on from off, or turned on from standby?

Mine does not turn on from full powered off. In the settings I just have everything for Bluetooth unticked.
