Please help. NTL + 360 = CONSTANT problems

Is anyone else having major problems with their NTL connection and the 360. I am so close to smashing my cable modem in half its not true.

I am constantly being dropped from games, every 10 minutes or so and my 360 loses connection, whether I am hosting or not. I literally have even tried plugging my 360 directly in to the cable modem, no joy, I try it around a next door neighbours who is using the 4MB service rather than the 10, and it works flawlessly.

I am using the old Terayon black mode (TJ210 I believe) and literally have even unscrewed the "aerial" cable at the back and tried it on a different one. I literally am being driven insane. Has anyone any ideas?

I literally am getting to the point where I cant even enjoy live!.
 
are you getting it just on your 360, or PC as well? I'm having the same problem with the same modem on NTL. At first i thought it was a virus (leading to 2 formats etc, quite annoying), yet no AV software finds anything. Stops me from playing CS, WoW, and constantly disconnects me from IRC/msn etc.
 
I rarely have the odd bit of trouble with the PC, but its very rare... I may get disconnected on CS every so often... maybe once every half an hour...
 
I am on 10mbit NTL also and have had similar problems, but it only really does it when I am using bittorrent. The connection briefly clicks off then back on again, but it's long enough to cause you to disconnect from any online game and sometime it just refuses to work even tho the lights are flashing, which can only be solved by rebooting the modem.

This has been happening since the 10mbit upgrade as I have never used to get this problem with the 1mbit -> 3mbit service before.
 
I take it back. I tried CS and I may as well not have bothered. I am lagging terribly. Normally its pretty bad on games, but today it is literally unplayable.

Street Fighter 2 = cuts out half way thru a match.
Perfect Dark Infection = Before a round is over goodbye connection to host.
 
do the usual pinging of addresses, try a traceroute to jolt.co.uk for instance.
 
You need to ring up Ntl and get them to change your modem, those old Terayon's can't handle the 10mb.

I used to have the old Terayon modem same as you and when they upgraded me to 10mb I would lose connection all the time.

I rang them up and explained to them, then after a rather lengthy and annoying phone call, I got an engineer to come out and gimme a new one.

It's perfect now.

I had exactly the same issues with the terrayon modem. I got them to change it by ringing them up and saying it was faulty. Intermittent fault you see, every now and then it would power down ;)

Havent had those issues since.
 
that might be it then. It started happening to me once i got back off holiday, so maybe my connections been upgraded while i was away. Hmm might give them a ring tomorrow.

didn't they send an engineer to test it?
 
another method of getting a new modem (as i believe strictly speaking they would charge you £50 for one) is to ask nicely for one then if they dont tell them you want to cancel. You'll then go through to retentions (where I used to work) and boom easy save, they'll get you one out for free.


annoying but unless they have changed something in the month since i worked there should work no problem.

Excuse me? I am on a Terayon and 10mb and bar the last 2 weeks (which seem over now) it's excellent, I get 900kb/s-1mb/s from good hosts.
 
I called out nthell due to this problem and they replaced the modem to a NTL250 (BLUE).I am on 10 mb and have not had any problems since. :D Keep your eyes on the engineer as he,s working though as i had a 1gb sony memory card vanish after he had left :mad:

Well you must just be lucky then.

But when they upgrading a few people on here said the Tereyon might not handle it and they day after they upgraded me I had problems, soon as I got the new modem it was fine.
 
Not had any problems with mine yet.. on pc or 360.. I have 10mb NTL. Had NTL since this time last year. got upgraded to 10mb a bit after.. and still not paid one single penny for the service....:D

Hmmm, am I reading your post wrong, or are you saying that if I want a newer modem, that they will charge me £50 for it? :eek:
 
Same problems for me with the terayon.
A little kick to the terayon without damaging the case was all it took lol
swapped it for the latest model no questions asked :)
have'nt had 1 disconnect from games or surfing since.

He's saying if they dont give you one for free, threaten to leave, then they will.
