How will economic collapse help anyone? What’s an app got to do with someone’s electric bills.
By resetting the current economic cycle which has reached it's end. Ask yourself this, what is better about today than 30 or 40 years ago apart for imported technology and cars? Nothing, there is nothing to account for 30 or 40 years of progress in every day life.

That'll be more old people sitting in their own faeces then. I hope euthanasia is legal by the time I get there. Like to sign a disclaimer now, if I ever need to enter a care home I'll take option 2, take me out the back and a bullet to the head please.

So getting on for 1 mln just for one care home?

Yeah government can't bail out everything so how's it going to choose?
Or will it just be survival of the fittest?

Problem with any reset is everyone in their mid life is going to be screwed forever.

This is always an issue. I just don't want to be the screwed one! :D

What is a reset of the current economic cycle and what does it involve? Like I said before, what does this entail? You can’t just get rid of all the debt and start again.

Sounds like what you mean is 'screw anyone with assets'.

I didn't expect the world to implode as it has, even taking Covid into account. The 2020s have so far the been the worst decade in living memory bar the two world wars and we are only two years in.

How would you even start with a "reset"

As in business that is going to fail are going to fail. Capitalism yo. There are plenty of people in jobs that contribute absolutely nothing, people living a champagne lifestyle on beer money etc. It all has to come to an end sometime and I believe that time is coming.

You mean since the 1980s? You hit my pitch fair and square.

International treaties and federations
Technology both soft and hard (including comms)
Scientific discovery
Educational improvements
Medical treatments & outcomes
Transport speed, costs and frequency
Green energy
....and so on...only the music has got worse.

Of course if you've been listening to the current bunch in power they have more or less promised to bin all of these so I get the point.

i've already told my missus at the first signs of anything that might lead to me requiring nursing home care, if i'm not able to do it myself, she's to take me to a forest with a big ole bottle of whisky and i'll sort the rest. (i love the outdoors and would sooner go out on my own terms as rot away in the care system)

Yup, i'm equally confused to what "reset" actually means. I think those mentioning it need to detail exactly what they mean by a "reset" and how we (the country) go about doing it.

As in business that is going to fail are going to fail.
So a "reset" is letting businesses fail, is that it?

The analogy for me is how this environmentally aware, zero waste and zero air pollution generation leave the festival site after the weekend.

Knee deep in rubbish with abandoned and burning tents throwing a pall of smoke into the air.

Cost of living?

Pretty much. I don't think people quite realise what is going to happen in the coming years. It is going to make 2008 feel insignificant. A local restaurant that was a bit of attraction for the area has just closed its doors after 15 years. They are still operating their truck stop one which only opened after COVID however.
I guessed you were talking about The Witham & Blues, just checked their website and yea, closed the other day due to the economic circumstances  I hadn't realised.

Not feeling optimistic about our hospitality business :(

Not sure the are in living memory really. Born in 89 certainly the most tumultuous times of my life.

Really, losing pubs and sandwich shops and eateries is a collapse in society?

.....

Sadly I think this is what a lot of people think, I quoted a tweet from an MP where a Care Home wrote to him stating that thier energy bill is going from 152k to nearly 800k!, this is not a normal 'bust and boom' recession where a few businesses close.

Yeah we used to go there quite often pre COVID and they were always packed and needed to reserve a table.

Yeah I know, I wasn't saying what I put lightly, I just don't think there is a way we are going to be able to save everyone
And with that said my feelings are that hospitality is going to be hammered even if they receive support for bills.

Its really starting to feel like we are going to be recession bound and its going to be a really nasty one.

You lived through the two world wars?

So a "reset" is letting businesses fail, is that it?

A country living a lifestyle on credit or on the drip. When things get tough people can't tighten their belts because they have zero capital to back it up.

That's what I mean by a reset. The ones who cannot manage will learn a valuable life lesson. Hopefully then everyone will be better for it.

It's still no clearer to what a "reset" entails exactly - are you suggesting mass poverty and unemployment?
If so, i'm not sure that's a "reset" rather it's just letting "it" playout as that is likely the outcome of all of this.
