Please recommended a budget (Less than £100) 4G Router.

So if you have LOS, can you actually see the mast or is it actually obscured (by the trees amongst other things)?

And when you say you had lots of issues getting started, did you use a Quickset or did you configure it using webfig?

Even at 2km, you should be getting more than 2 bars. I strongly suspect you’re not picking up signal from the mast you think you are.

Slightly disapointing from my router, i went down there to test last night and only achieved the following (very stable, see the low jitter etc), i was hoping for rather more bandwidth. Placement makes little difference whether that be at ~15ft on the low end of the roof, or just in hand at near ground level. This is using the Huawei B593 on EE as above, then wifi to an iPhone XS.

Clearly the router isnt the best device that i could be using, at least this proves that a half usable connection should be achievable if i beef up the equipment.

and i did use quickset
when the leaves go off of the trees i am pretty sure i can make out the mast to the west of me from the ladder anyway :D
There is another mast just slightly further away to the east ,only a few meters more but there is a hill in the way of that one so i thought that this one should be better

That looks like you’re being limited by the supplier. Bear in mind they know what device is connected to their network. Those Huawei routers are pretty good.
I need to find a sim adapter then, then i could try my Vodafone nano sim from my iPhone. Encouraging that you believe that this could be the case.

You might still be connecting or getting the best signal from the worst positioned mast - for instance the mast that I have best LOS to for my provider is optimised to beam up and down a railway line perpendicular to me :( and the one I seem to mostly be using is over a hill away.

Well, even at 20/20Mbps it’s still massively better than your landline!

I need to open up a laptop to look at that image.

OK, the RSSI is OK, not the best, but OK. The RSRP is horrible. I'm actually surprised you have any signal at all. It should be something like -80db. Anything worse than -90dB is usually nada in terms of data transmission.

If you force it onto band 7 (2600MHz) do you get any signal at all?

Seems to depend a bit on the environment - in built up areas I really struggle to get anything data wise past -100dB but out here in the sticks I'm getting near 40Mbit at -105 RSRP!

Obviously things like SNR and RSRQ will come into play.

Yeah there is a railway line running about 80m away from the house and they have been doing the electrification on it .lots of steel gantries :(

Been having a closer look at google maps and it is also looking like the church tower is right in the way, although i did not think it was
BUT i have discovered another mast that is south east of me might be worth a go,this one will require me mounting the SXT on the TV pole so not an easy fix but might be doable on a better day

and yes it is a hell of a lot better than my plusnet line

Yes, but the RSRP shouldn't be that bad. The RSSI is calculated from a formula and even if it looks good, the signal quality can be horrible.

This is the unit in the office (Salford Quays)

We're definitely being capped because I can get 80Mbps on my iPhone.
