Please Tell Me About...

I havnt seen a Nova on the road for years. There is a good reason for this. They are heaps of crap.

For £5-600 and want a small hatch with a little engine I would look at either Micras or Ph2 106s

Well me and me old man are going round a few garages/dealers/private sellers next week to have a ganders, so maybe ill get back with something, just going to get something cheap, cheefull and thats got potential.

Most of the crap rotbox Novas are gone. The only ones left are ones that have been looked after, so they tend to be in quite good condition.

Look for one that is excellent, body wise. They can rot absolutely everywhere. Engines and running gear are all easy and cheap to replace but welding and chassis repairs are not.

The 1.0 is slow, the 1.2 is adequate for transport, 1.3 SR, 1.4 and 1.6 are all great fun if you hustle them.
The brakes on all models are frankly petrifying, they are easily stolen or broken into and are not at all durable in a crash. If, like me, none of this is of any great consequence and you like the look, get one. There are of course far superior cars you can get for the money but then it's not always about that when choosing a car.

Yeah very easy to break into, and start!
The 1.4 Sri's are pretty quick for what they are, infact possibly marginaly quicker than the 1.6's.

Id forget the nova... how about something like a wee 1.2 N (or similar age) clio :)

I hate the old clios with a passion. A sales assistant used to run me home in her old clio, i couldnt fit in the passenger seat very well, even with the seat all the way back. Ive heard Novas have more legroom?

EDIT: Then again, an old-ish Escort might do fine, just anything with a potential will do for my 1st car, ill probs get rid of it in 18months and get something better.

To be fair, any car that isn't in production is dead...uh oh Foxy your 5 is dead. :p

Well no not really - a car is dead when its virtually impossible to buy a used one anymore. There are hardly any Nova's left, they have reached a point where they are a poor buy for all but the most die hard of enthusiasts.

Same with a lot of cars, but I'd not class them as dead. :)

So you genuinelly beleive a Nova remains a credible choice for somebody after a regular runabout? But then we all know how good you are not at buying used cars so I'm not sure how useful that opinion is :p

There are just FIVE Nova's for sale on all of Autotrader. Of these, 1 is a GSi somebody wants £3400 for.

So, 4 in the entire country and you dont think they are dead as far as a regular car choice is concerned?
