Plusnet Discussion Thread

Has anyone noticed any major changes in routing this afternoon? Mrs reported to me earlier internet was slow but line has stayed in sync and PPPoE uptime is fine but my ping is ridiculously better!
I was previously happy when I requested fast path and my ping to 8.8.8.8 went from 22ms to 17-18ms but now it's down at 9-10ms!!!

Very happy.

I’m getting 9ms pings to 8.8.8.8 from a Pi on my network. No idea what it was before.

Google is more consistent.

I wouldn't have checked if I hadn't read this but mine is also 10ms(ish) down from 18-22ms

Also during November I noticed a nice little speed bump but it's gone now

I’m on iPad so am struggling to copy/paste the graph but on 7th Dec at about 2AM the change happened.

an 8ms drop in ping time to ~10ms means DLM put you onto fastpath and it may drop the sync speed by a few mbit at the same time.

I requested fast path 4 weeks after the service went live (6 months ago) it took it from 22-23ms down to 17-18ms. A far as I know it’s one of the ECI cabs as well so whilst I’m really not moaning, it’s like it’s too good to be true!

Thanks, that one's the BT box though, not the plusnet one, unless they are one and the same bit of kit of course.

Which wouldn't be too much of a surprise seeing as it;s the same parent Co I think?

How are Plusnet for re-contracting/re-negotiations after your initial term?

My current BT contract ends in early Jan and they haven't made me an offer that can't be refused yet ,I am getting tired of all the faffing about tbh.

They are rubbish, they just offer it you at the same price or a quid or two more, so you lose out on the quidco/top cashback amazon vouchers etc, which can come to £200 or more, i just switch between bt/plusnet

They’ve at least matched what new customers would be paying (excluding cashback) which is fair enough as far as I’m concerned. They aren’t particularly expensive in the first place. I also need a static IP which can be difficult/impossible with any mainstream ISPs.
