I handed it in. The woman behind the counter just took my name and number on a scrap of paper. She said she'd ring if no-one claimed it. (no she wasn't fit)

when I paid I popped back and asked her if anyone came for it. she said they did.
shesaid the guy was gonna ring me to say thanks - no one ever called

I'm beginning to think she could have just pocketed it herself!

Oh really, you think? :p

Hand it in. I was full of a cold, took some anti cold tablets and lockets and tunes and other bits to clear my head, drove about 150 miles with the heater on full. Got out and went toa cash machine, took £200 out and went into the shop. 20 secs later a woman taps me and hands me my £200 i forgot to take out the machine, seems i walked off after i got my card and forgot about it. drugged upto the eyeballs with anti cold stuff im sure did this to me as ive never done it before or after.

So for me, hand it in, great feeling to get it back and as the OP says, maybe the xmas budget...

£200 is a lot..saying that, I once found £50 in Tescos, I handed in half and kept half...
What is the point in that? It isn't at all cool, you idiot.

When someone goes looking for their "£50", Tesco will say "No - no one has handed in £50".

You either just made damn sure the owner couldn't get his money back, or you just gave away £25 to Tesco (depending on how high your moral standards are).

Me and my friend when we were 14 once found a wallet randomly in the dark in a gutter. We went through it and were not sure what to do.

We did take the money, but the worst thing is the pin number was in with the debit card with a bank statement. We decided we could have handed the wallet in. But instead we chopped the card up and ripped the number up and threw it away. And had the cash.

70 quid was a lot to 14 year old kids, and this guy did not have a small amount in his bank so we thought ok.

If found by the wrong person tho, a lot more money could have been taken.

Now i look back i would hand it in, but we were kids so. At least we did the correct thing with the card though (imo)
