at the risk of sounding like a 83 year old noob. what is a podcast?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Podcast

A podcast is a multimedia file that is distributed by subscription (paid or unpaid) over the Internet using syndication feeds, for playback on mobile devices and personal computers[1]. Like 'radio', it can mean both the content and the method of broadcast. The latter may also be termed podcasting. The host or author of a podcast is often called a podcaster.

fine, all you needed to say was "it's pre-recorded radio". :p
I think there's a bit more to it than that, but yes that's basically what it is. Although i'm no expert, i've never properly used one. To me its just an mp3 download.
edit: i don't like how it has 'pod' in the title, as if it's somehow exclusive to ipod, when it's clearly not.
Nor do i, it implies that its something that only works with an ipod. I think Apple are even trying or have tried to trademark it.
I suppose its no worse than ipod and mp3 player meaning the same thing these days, even though an ipod cannot play mp3s.

The only one I have is Chris Moyle's podcast. I've not even listened to half of them as I forgot, theirs about 65 of them saved at the moment :o.

Ricky Gervais, until the greedy tub of lard started charging us for them.

Do you know how much bandwidth must cost when millions of people download it?

is it as much as he's charging? no idea ho much he charges, but if millions of people are paying then i'm guessing there is a healthy profit...

Well it is his job...
