Poker

Actually the guy that won the one before (that I wasn't present at) sat out the last as he'd won the one previous. Not sure whether I should.

why sit out because you have won it once?
its not often people win the same tourneys multiple times, not even at the highest level of the game

Yeah thats what I thought, but maybe its the polite thing to do. Wouldn't want to be accused of hogging the limelight :p

Would definitely be accused of taking the easy way out though :p

I'm in a huge MTT on Sunday, $50,000 + pool - so should be around $12,000 first prize from a field of around 1,000. I'll need some serious luck from such a field to make the final table, but I'm hoping to cash.

Well I came 62nd, with the top 60 getting paid...we are not amused. My JJ overpair ran into QQ and despite open ended straight flush draw did not catch. I was aware of being close to the bubble, but I play to win so I was never passing. Only guy on my table who could put me out too, I would have gone chip monster, grrr. Week off for me now until i get my rakeback payment.

I playe on Stan James. Came 38th in the massive 120k tourney with 29k for first. Took nearly $1000 from my $50 buy in with no rebuys. Best books I have read so far are by Dan Harrington, However super system 1/2 are good too.

I normally play 1/2 no limit and am generally in profit. My advice is to accurately check your deposits and cashouts to see how you do.

I am a much better live player than online. A combination of knowing what i'm doing and watching the others helps. My housemate plays in a cash game every saturday night. £20 rebuy with winner takes all and about 12 players. I won three times in a row and now the invite is scarce lol :p

I love the game, but have to be careful. Time flies and I could easily play for 7/8 hours. In fairness though, I haven't played in the last month, hmmmmm, guess what i'll be doing tomorrow :D

Problem with poker is that it is so time consuming, for very little winnings on the smaller tables.

Don't dare/or have the time , to try higher stakes yet though.
Probably not good enough anyway!

I play on William Hill and also with work colleagues/friends.

Played at the weekend and won a measily £30 in first place!

I'm on Pacific Poker, William Hill and Ladbrokes. Only get a chance to play for a couple of hours on a saturday - usually on the .25c/.50c tables and I can usually count on making $100-$200 depending on the table.

Online poker is great, I find the best time to play is early in the morning against all the drunks.

:D

I was playing a tourney at uni last night and knocked the first player out in mega style...

Him: Ah 7h
Me: Kd 4d or something (King rag... cant remember the other card)

Flop: 9h Kc Kh

Some small betting... until:

Turn: 9h Kc Kh 3h

This gives him the Nut flush, which he goes all in with... It is only 1/3 of my stack to call and I really have to... oviously worried about flush but I thought he only had one heart so... now we flip and i'm done...

Until the river comes 9s!! The board pairs and my full house sends him packing!! WOOP!

I love dishing out the beats... it's about time :D

oops sorry.. when I said I had K, 3 - i madfe up the 3 cuz I can't remember what it was...

it was King Rag... it couldn't have been 3...was 4,5 or 6 or something else useless...

edit: ok I fixed it so my sorry is no longer void haha... basically I killed his nut flush with a full house when the board paired on the river :)

Basically I had about 10 outs I think (3x rag, 6x board pairs and 1x K)...

so really the odds weren't that bad (about 1 in 5 chance to hit) but to have the nut flush busted is great :D (for me... obv... hehe)

i play at the gutshot in london .

Cant stand online the software is set to increase their rake and make tourneys finish quick. Although i have used it to my advantage a few times.

Live poker is the best and has the most skill

Yes, someone please arrange an OCUK tourney. I'm now back in my own house this term so will be able to play using any client :D

True but not everyone has access to a casino though ;)

i first learnt how to play poker about 1 year ago exactly

played on pokerstars over the last year and lost about £75 total i think :p

only last month i actually withdraw the £25 i put in my poker account and had another £25 to play around with :D was first time i made a profit as such so was happy...but lost the rest anyway lol

i much prefer live games tho, since started uni couple weeks ago, have made about £100 in 4 games of poker, including £50 last night at my mates house :p i think im definately A LOT better now then i was a few months ago

i would love to go to a casino in london...do they hold hold'em tourneys often? and are the buy ins big?

most casinos have tournaments every day , buy ins generally around £30 but range from £10-100
